WIW Custo Barcelona inspiration

When I saw yesterday's blog post, I knew I could pull together something like it. I don't usually like such maximal looks but for some reason I am really drawn to all of the different patterns and textures together. I tried to dial down the volume on this look on purpose. I think I succeeded, maybe a bit too well even. Looking at this photo now, I see I didn't push it enough. I should have at least two more b/w patterns or textures to do a faithful interpretation of the original look. So it's not necessarily a failure -- I like it -- but I think it could be pushed further.

I am wearing the famous Halogen seamed skirt, NAS jacket, miz mooz YLF meetup boots with micro fishnet hose.

Comments and suggestions for how to push this look gladly accepted!

I love it - but you could add Dotty (or did you?) and maybe a pattern scarf or top under the jacket?

I love that jacket Rita! I think this is a great interpretation of the look...the colour blocking with the black and bold is fab. I agree that a patterned scarf and Dotty would take it up that other notch you're looking for. You look gorgeous girl...and may I say you have fab legs!

The blue and black together is lovely! A patterned scarf would be gorgeous with it. I must say that skirt is such a great fit and very flattering and I LOVE those boots on you. Makes your legs look so long and slender.

The tan boot really makes your legs look so long! Love that instead of a black shoe. Although your minimal version of a maximal look is different than the inspiration it may be more Rita and less Custo. The skirt and jacket pair so well. I think the neckline of top and jacket would be perfect for a scarf or necklace if you give it another run sometime.

Great outfit! This is a very strong look and I really like it. That NAS jacket has some great texture to it and a nice neckline and the boots are the perfect neutral on the bottom to make your legs looks miles long.

Suz, I think this was a halogen jacket from Nordie's, though I'm not sure... it's complicated to take off so I can't check the tag now at work

The Halogen seamed skirt did come in our sizes last summer but it sold out fast along with the fever pink skirt in petite. It looks like it's available in Cobalt in petites right now -
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ha.....sultback=0. I like the color but I don't feel like I need to collect every one they put out. Now if there was an orange or green, I would give it some serious consideration.

I decided to try the boots after someone posted a link to Imogen's column of color post. It is supposed to work with a long column of color on your lower half; like if I was wearing tan shoes and a skirt in the same color tone. But I don't really like this look - I am not a huge fan of light colored bottoms on me. I think it also works when the boots are knee high and create an unbroken line all the way up.

I think this outfit as is works perfectly and you look terrific in it! If you wanted to "punch" it up a bit, add a patterned top and Dotty. Or maybe swap out the boots (but they look SO good here!) and add patterned hose with heels. Do you have any black and white patterned heels?

I don't think I have any b/w patterned heels. I do have a pair of lace d'orsay heels but they are a no go for work. Animal print wedges? I would wear Angie's matisse booties but when I tried it with this skirt it was very shortening on my already very short legs. I think it would work if I had more real estate.

This is a great outfit! After seeing Angie's post I was also thinking about using cobalt blue in place of emerald green. I love seeing your version.

This is a really fabulous look Rita! The light boots totally make this for me. I think if you wanted a bit "more" you could wear a black and white graphic printed top under the jacket, then add your cute dotty purse.

You look stunning! Love your interpretation of the look. it is a bit more toned down, but you can always introduce more texture/pattern with a scarf/bag.

Hmmm. Black pumps/shooties and over-the-top black patterned hose/tights? A long black textured vest/gillet or cardi (to give you a more of a column of black)?
