Well, I bought it at the Japanese dollar store on a lark. My idea of where to wear it was the McDonald’s with the most subcult peeps lounging inside and out. Lol. All mum’s idea to wear it where sober people dine... hehe!
We didn't have winter melon on the actual New Year's Day because it was so hot then, but we had it at one of the many family meals after (along with fish, of course!)
My outfits weren't anywhere near as festive, though - just an orangey red colour (since I don't suit true red) lol!
Oh right! I have to say Happy New Year! ‘Gung Hay Slin Nan!’ (I don’t think anyone speaks our dialect ... another thing my grandma made up!)
That’s cool Zaeobi! You had winter melon! (You are the first person to say ‘winter melon’ to me my whole life, you know, who is not my grandma... you see how this goes with grandma, a suspicious character!)
I melon soup while in China, staying at the White Swan........I still miss the buffets in Guangzhou. It wasn't Winter Melon, though, I'm sure, because it was, well, August. And there was no Saran!
Oh my gosh! So much fun! Yes, the hair is going to have its say about the rest of your outfit. It deserves more than combat boots. You rocked it! If the middle schoolers where I work saw you they would say, “She be stylin’!”
