WIW: cashmere, plaid, patent - YouLookFab Forum

Lots of different textures today and my favorite greens and blues again. Soft cream cashmere sweater, silky teal blouse, black watch pplaid flannel pants, and shiny grey patent boots. I wanted to see if I could winterize this summery blouse by layering a sweater over it. It was somewhat successful. I was limited to only baggy sweaters because the blouse has a waist drawstring that is lumpy. I think the neckline of the cream sweater is a little too high and wide to layer nicely over a blouse, so I added the long necklace to try to draw the eye down and in. Did it work?

Also added a pic with my forest green (waves to Rachylou!) toggle coat since I love how it goes with the plaid pants.

I love this outfit--and the coat too! I looked at your picture before I read your description, and I had not even noticed the sweater collar being too high--so the necklace did its magic, IMO. I like how the shirt coordinates with the color of the pants to help unify the outfit. I think all the proportions here are great.

Uniglo question: What size sweater do you typically wear there? (It was so packed the last time I went that I didn't bother to try anything on.) I know we are similar on top. TIA

It totally works! I like the necklines with the necklace. The plaid pants are such a fun look, especially with those pretty, shiny boots. The chambray shirt and cream sweater are a great choice to wear with that plaid. I like the coat with the outfit, too. Lots to adore here!

I love the coat!! Great *find*! But I think I am going to have to disagree with rest and say that the sweater does have a wide neckline and the necklace doesn't really throw out enough to get the attention. May be a chunkier necklace under the collar of the blouse would work better. Love the color combo overall and the coat does go very well with the black watch pants. No wonder you reached for it!

Kelly, I'm a medium most of the time (except I size up in the layering stuff like heattech since I don't want it super tight), although their sizing is kind of variable depending on the item. I find a lot of the tops really long. This sweater is a large but I bought it deliberately oversized. If you look online, they actually have actual item measurements for a lot of things - it's kind of hard to find but if you click on "size chart" it not only has the generic size chart but actual item measurements.

I like any outfit at all with those pants. And I don't think I've seen the boots before. I must have, but I don't recall. Maybe they looked darker in previous pics. I like the layering of the top and sweater and think the necklace works well.

Hi to another green queen like myself, I love the colour. The outfit looks great, I specially like the teal scarf with the green coat. I don't know that it needs the necklace, but I'm not much of a jewellery girl myself so that may be why, can you pop the collar of the shirt or is the silk too soft?

Suz, I wear these boots all the time and have had them for a couple of years, but this is the first time this season. They are super comfy/supportive despite having a 2.5" heel, AND are completely waterproof so they are surprisingly good for rain and snow. I am done with rubber rain boots, sticking to waterproof patent from now on. I am seriously considering getting another pair from the same family.

For anyone who is interested, these are the boots but they only come in plain black right now. They run narrow, and Naot sizing is different from normal Euro sizing. I usually am a US 8 in boots, which translates to 38-38.5 in normal Euro, but I'm always a 39 in Naot. The Zappos conversions to US sizing are accurate. They are MUCH better in person than the photo suggests.

Aleta, nope the collar is too soft to pop. I don't own any stiff shirts as I hate wearing them; in any case my neck is too short for popped collars to stay up.

Angie, I got the coat last year and wore it quite a bit. I'm not sure I've ever photographed it though (although I think I did a K/R) as I don't often take photos of my heavy outerwear (since I put it on right as I'm leaving the house and then have to quickly run outdoors before I roast in my overheated apartment!).

Fabulous! I need to try tucking my blackwatch pants into tall boots - didn't think of that. I usually wear ankle boots with patterned bottoms for leg lengthening, but you look fantastic!
