WIW Breastfeeding Chic on a Rainy Day

Hi All-

I saw Angie's outfit today of white with jeans and wanted to channel it in a small way. I'm at home on maternity leave and it is rainy and gloomy today. My little one just turned 4 months yesterday. No possibility of a walk today unless I make it to the mall. I wore:

A lands end shawl collar cardigan in ivory. Perfect for breastfeeding!

Liz Lange maternity Cami in white. I actually continue to wear these camis post maternity because the are long enough and don't ride up.

Kut from the Kloth Diana jeans in my pre-maternity "big" size.

At home I just wear slippers but if I venture out, I will wear my new over the knee boots and a Majesty Peacoat from J Crew.

Would love feedback and any tips you have on feeling fab when at home with a breastfeeding infant. With my first little one, I never would have dreamed of posting a photo of my outfit online because I spent my entire maternity time in old sweats and pajamas. With my second child, I am trying to carve out time to put together nicer outfits because it makes me feel so much happier.

You look great! I don't have much advice, my last baby spit up so much I mainly wore cheap old navy camis and knit shirts.

You look great! I love your new boots.

I just made sure with my second to wear things that were nicer, but that I didn't mind if they got dirty. So lots of fluid washable knits, that were easy to wash and care for, and breastfeeding friendly. I definitely had a uniform going, but it worked for me.

I had a uniform of cardigans and tanks, because I felt more put together that way, and had enough coverage for nursing with or without a cover. I didn't like the typical knit nursing shirts as they made me feel like I looked pregnant still. Sorry I'm not much help. Cute comfy cardigans in various sleeve lengths were my favorite.

What your wearing was my uniform while on maternity leave. I personally felt fab if I managed to get dressed and stay relatively clean! I think you're doing great!!

YLF in mom-state. The days can be challenging for personal style, yes!

You look awesome @4 months PP. I came to YLF exactly 4 months PP after my second one and what a community. I learned a lot and it changed my perspective @ style, fashion so called frivolous things (thats how i was raised) but so so important in day to day life and even professionally.

And outfit is great and love those boots.

You look great. Pretty much what I wore for the first year with both kids. I did the nursing tank/cardi or large fuild sweater look almost daily. I would change into a zipped hoody and sometimes yoga pants (the first few months when pants that fit where limited) at home to keep things as clean as possible. I had two wrapped cardis with a tie belt that I wore a ton. My other trick was to wear a loose fitting top I could pull up or down for nursing and carried/wore a large jersey scarf to drape over me.

You look lovely -- the drape and creamy color make it special. My DS just turned 12, so I was in lots of cardis and sweater-style hoodies, in true '02 style! Learning to look nice for yourself, first, is so valuable!

OMG, you look sensational. I was a train wreck on maternity leave. The cream sweater/top is so pretty with your dark hair. Love the peacoat with the tall boots. YLF!

You look amazing! I love this outfit- a perfect blend of comfortable and classic! Those boots are lust-worthy!!! And congratulations on breast feeding for four months! How is it all going?

I carried each child in a (wrap around cloth) sling for six months and under that I wore any top that gave bubby instant access- low scoop neck lines, button downs and Bonds breast feeding singlets (with the snap on the shoulder). Jeans and A-line skirts with ballet flats or knee hi boots(+/-) tights on bottom.

Scarves are versatile- they can be used to snuggle an infant or breast feed in public discreetly!

Give yourself pj days at home if you need to rest!

I'm glad you are spending some time putting yourself together! I have such happy memories of the days I was nursing my girls, but the memories of what I was wearing are not so happy! Good for you!
