Great interpretation! Lyn, you are a gamine too, aren't you?
I like each items here, and how you have replaced the Richelieu shooties with cognac knee-length boots. The cardi and dress together are a poem. And the fun shirt's collar suits your bubbly, smart personality. But somehow, something about the collar's shape and shirt's print doesn't work as well as it could here... I'm trying to pinpoint what it is and I think it might be a question of materials. Visually, the darker shirt brings a lot of attention to your face and top which is good, better than the original version of this outfit IMO, especially with the belted waist. The dress does carry both blues. However, one (cardi) is soft and gentle, being one smooth colour, while the other (shirt), with its oversize dots and expressive, sturdy collar points, is climatic and powerful. I think there is the culprit. Take the same shirt, remove the dots, and then the balance would work. Or swap the cardi (which could be less tedious than removing the dots LOL) for a better supporting act and you're in business. I would love to see the outfit without the cardi, just with the dotted shirt.
(Now I go hide somewhere).
