WIW : Black Velvet & Leggings

Well you know this is a safe place when you feel perfectly comfortable (knowingly) posting a less than perfect outfit:)

I was going to chop of my head(!) as this bug (virus) is just hanging on and it shows, but I think it's harder to assess an outfit that way lol.

I'm convinced that this looks better IRL! I feel the proportions are not the best. I think the dress is too short for the leggings. Wondering if a skinny leg Ponte pant might work better than the leggings.

I love this sack dress but don't think I have found styling perfection for it yet. Your suggestions would be much appreciated:)

It's lovely, maybe the dress is too long for leggings and that makes the outfit a little too heavy!

I think this looks ok. I think the propirtions look slightly off because the dress is quite full at the hem. I'd like to see it with the ponte pant or with boots.

Hi Deborah, I think the leggings look fine with this dress! Being super-critical and looking at the side view I noticed the length thing, but the button detail on the leggings is great, giving them some added interest and bulk. Hope you are feeling better soon!

No, I don't think the dress is too short, rather too long (!) for these particullar leggings.
I just coverred with my finger your leg lower, to calf length, but then I saw the dress will cut you just where the button detail on the leggings start, and so your calves are showing a bit thicker than they are. If more of your gorgeous slim legs show under the dress, then this is not a problem anymore, the final siloutette will stay flattering. Just my 2 cents. BTW great leggings:-)

Thank you so much ladies. I guess this is not as bad as I thought! Maybe the virus was just getting me down. I must say I felt good in this combo.

Kiwichik I will try it with the ponte pants as I think it will create a slightly less skinny look on my legs which does contrast with the fullness of the sack dress.

Angie, are you just being kind? I couldn't believe your Killer rating on this outfit. Just goes to show I still have a lot to learn:) So it's been record on my Stylebook and will be going into regular rotation. x
