First off, I apologize for posting and running. These days, I am only on my laptop when I am in the basement doing a load of laundry. Typing while on my tiny iPhone 5 is just too hard particularly since I don't have full functionality in my fingers.
THE SECRET TO GREAT LOOKING HAIR:
1. Use an iPhone 5 in low artificial light so the photo is rather small and blurry.
2. Take photo during those magic two or three minutes after drying hair when it actually kinda looks good before it reverts back to shapeless awfulness.
3. Don't let anyone see the back side.
4. Thank your lucky stars that you stopped coloring years ago so you don't have to contend with stripes and the like.
Thanks to everyone who looked, and particularly to those who took the time to post. Particularly these days I know it often takes me awhile to look and many times I don't post because I'm not on my laptop or I run out of time.
@slimcat: Wearing the shirt with bermudas is a great idea! I haven't worn shorts in at least a decade, but I still kept a pair *just in case* and it is black'n'white (mostly black) so it will *go* with the shirt if I ever get the urge.
@slimcat and @star: The black shirt's sleeves are rolled in the photo and are at least a cuff length or more too long. Since the shirt is already a bit too long on me and oversize, I feel like I will look as though I am borrowing a tall friend's shirt if I don't get the sleeves shortened. Plus, at Nordstrom the alteration will effectively be free.
@preppy pear: With my arms up to take the photo, you can't see that the shirt's shoulder seem is slightly too square (not sufficiently sloped) and that it is a bit tight in the shoulder cap area despite the armhole being fairly roomy. Shoulder pads take care of the problem. I could have worn my shoulder pads saved from the 1980s that velcro into my bra. Too forgetful to remember about them and too lazy to use.
@jane and @bijou: Yes, the black shirt is a little more feminine and softer than my usual look. In spring and summer I may even wear color! I recently bought geranium (deep coral) jeans.
Below are the cheapo comfy flat Topshop boots that helped with the proportions due to their platform.
