IK, I see that too but for some reason it's not bothering me. I feel like if they were more fitted I would not be able to get them on, and that gap at the top isn't that noticeable IRL. I looked at a lot of tall boot pics and see this where the boot flares slightly at the knee. If they were a lower shaft it might be different.

So I'm good with the first link here, but the second bothers me because of the rigid and uniformly wide shaft.

I love the neutral colors and different textures of this outfit. It looks not only sassy, but comfortable too! My first thought when I looked at the boots was that the boot shaft circumfence looked too big at the top of your leg - your legs looked like they were drowning in the boots - but from what you are saying, (about the gap not being that bad in real life) makes me think that its just seeing them in a still photo, rather than in motion (as was already mentioned above) is the problem, rather than the boots themselves. You are able to wear these colors so well - hope to see more outfits with this mix of colors!
