WIW and WIB: Fair Isle Pullovers

It turns out I like fair isle and happened to wear some just yesterday! I wore this J Crew sweater from a couple of y ears ago yesterday. It has a sleek fit (I had to size down twice!). I don't often wear light colors but sometimes

in the winter it feels nice.

Of the finds below, I own the blue and pink striped sweater already, from LOFT. It's a few years old and showing its age, as it wasn't a high quality item to begin with. It's soft and comfy so it's staying around for now.

I also REALLY like the J Crew pullover Angie got! Alas, I think the knit is heavier than what I need (I have enough sweaters of that weight for my climate, which is only intermittently frigid). So I didn't buy it myself. I instead ordered this darker Lucky Brand one, instead, as part of my Christmas gifts "from" my mom (ie, "order yourself some stuff on my behalf"). I hope it's also not too heavy.

ETA: I forgot about this grey LOF sweatshirt rhinestones in a kind of mock Fair Isle pattern! I need to wash it but hope to wear it soon for the Festive Challenge. It's one of my favorite winter pieces, even though I've gone off of grey somewhat.

I don't know if I've ever had a sweater like this, but I sure want one! I've got a case of the wantsies over here now. But like you, my climate really doesn't call for a heavy sweater that often (though lately we have had a few cold snaps, so that justifies it, right?!)

Oh those are nice Offices, in my experience, are intermittently frigid too. The office can be freezing every day, till the day you wear something warm, then its broiling!

Thanks, Elizabeth, Cardiff girl, and Sara- I've had good luck with Lucky Brand in the past. I just got burgundy cords that should go well with this. I like how it's a kind of restrained fair isle.

abc, we had two frigid years 2-3 years ago, and I have heavy knitwear from then. The past two winters have been more mild, though I do travel to freezing upstate NY in winter to visit my in laws, though not this year.. My current heavy items more than cover the need.

suntiger, tell me about it. My office varies from 72-74 degrees right now. I need a warm layer but nothing too heavy.

Great sweaters!
You and I are often "find twins", and I was the one who created the find for that black Lucky sweater after I saw it IRL at L&T and brought it home. I didn't see it on their web site but did at Macys.com so that's the store the find is from.

It's a moderately thick cotton and the pattern doesn't come too far down on the body, which were both things that appealed to me in addition to the dark color. The fit is great, especially the length, which is usually the case for this brand on me. If I remember correctly you are a few inches taller than me so will be interesting to see if it's a good length for you. Warm enough for indoor wear over another layer but not as warm as heavy wool.

I already got a compliment on it as a "great Christmas sweater" when I wore it last weekend to breakfast at a place where Santa was holding court. Works well with jeans and I could also see it with a simple black skirt, tights, booties.

Oh Chris! Yes we are find twins! I fell in love with that seater for sure. I am 5’4 but very short waisted (enough that I can take a petite size on top). No worries there. Moderately thick sounds good. I ordered from Lucky Brand’s website, along with this Bowie tee.

New sweater and tee arrived and they're great. The sweater hits my hip bones, so no worries there. There's enough room to layer underneath it too. I'll post a photo later.
