WIW and Which Bag?

I'd like to add a bag to my somewhat meager collection. These are my current bags (I also have a white one but that's for summer only.) I used the red fossil almost all of last year. As much as I like the smaller crossbody bags, I don't use them very often because they don't hold enough stuff.

I really like the Elliot Lucca Cordoba bags--I just can't decide which is the most versatile for me or if it even suits my casual style. I wear a lot of denim, black, grey and blue during the fall/winter. Is the lizard too light for me? I've seen MaryK and Shannon with it--perhaps it is better for blondes?

Your opinion is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Kelly, you and kitty are both gorgeous. Kitty looks almost bunny-like, in a hutch or something. But don't tell him (her?) I said that. I am sure cats feel insulted when compared to rabbits.

I just ordered the Elliot Luca bag. I ordered it in the other snakeskin tone - the more grey one. This one might work better for my hair, but the other will work better with my coats and I hope to use it year round, at least occasionally. I have never had such a dressy bag, either. I hope it works. I know Shannon loves hers. It looks great in the teal, too.

What colour of coats do you wear as a rule?

I do indeed love mine!

First off, the Elliot Lucca is the PERFECT sized handbag Kelly. It holds everything you need but with the two separate sections, plus the inside small pocket, you can still find everything. It has a long strap for shoulder or cross body wearing that you can take off to carry as a satchel so has versatility.

I love the snakeskin in the green tone (the one I have) and am finding it goes with much more than I had anticipated. The teal is also gorgeous though so I would think about what colour coat you may wear the most with it.

I like the light bag but I'd look at your past WIWs and try to imagine it in there with them. I struggled so hard with light boots for summer and finally decided they would not work for me and my wardrobe. But bags are different!

I agree with Una's advice. And I can picture you with a silvery bag, too. How about the black/white Cordoba bag instead of the sage one?

I like light bags, but I am terrible at keeping them tidy, especially in the winter when everything is covered in a thin grimy layer of salt. as such, I tend toward darker bags that don't show dirt as much. But how I love light bags, especially silvery ones, on those more careful than I am.

I do like #2 and I love #5 but #2 doesn't have any exterior pocket (that was a deal breaker for me when I looked at this bag and a few others by the same maker). I also looked at another similar bag by Brahmin but haven't made the commitment yet. I usually get tired of a bag after about a year. Even if I pay a lot for it and it's high qualitiy. So I'm still looking and considering options. I've bought several used bags over the past year or so to test various styles and sizes and that has helped me determine what I like or don't like. I think for me it's been a good process but I'm still learning.

I think you will find the teal hard to wear with your winter wardrobe. I really like Alicat's suggestion of the black/white one. Otherwise, the animal print is quite nice too.

I like the 2nd bag. Like Thistle, though, I have a hard time keeping a bag clean. If you can keep the light one clean, go for it. I think the blue one will be a bit more forgiving.

And your outfit looks great!

I don't think #1 is too light for you, but the color in #2 is pretty fab.

Personally, I love the white snakeskin one, but I think I remember you do wear a lot of darkish outfits often. Do you like contrast? Would you wear the light bag with a black and grey outfit?
The turquoise bag is fab, too, but you already have one in (roughly) that color. What is the reason you don't wear it? Wrong format? Color not versatile enough? Doesn't match any other accessories/shoes?

@Shiny: Thanks! The vest was actually a vest. I did chop my white denim jacket this summer and made it into a vest. I’ve worn it more “altered” than I ever did with the sleeves. I didn’t finish the edges though and it has a tiny bit of fraying where it was cut--kind of goes well with my casual style.
@Suz: Thank you. Davey is very much like a bunny. Somedays he hops around like Peter Cottontail. I totally missed the grey tone bag--I think that might be the best solution for me. Good call to think about outerwear coats--I wear black 99% of the time.
@Shannon: Thanks! So glad to hear that the handbag is roomy and accessible. I love yours--in fact, it was seeing yours in action that made me think about getting one too.
@Una: Thanks. I thought the snakeskin was more of a statement bag and wouldn’t have to “match” everything. The more I think about it though, I don’t really wear light colors so it may look kind of haphazard on me.
@Alicat: Thanks! I’m leaning toward the silvery one now--I totally missed that one.
@Thistle: Good point about keeping it clean. I do think it has enough pattern to not look dirty though--unlike my white bag. Thanks!

@Sylvie: That’s exactly what I was wondering. I thought my teal Docs would be so easy to wear but find the color rather limiting. I think I’m going to have to go with a print. Thanks!

ETA:@Doro: Thank you. We posted at the same time. I do tend to wear low contrast, dark outfits. I was *thinking* the bag might be a nice contrast but I fear that it may just look off if everything else I wear is dark. I don’t have light hair to bookend. I do like the turquoise bag but it seems “summer” and also doesn’t fit all of the stuff I have to schlep around. You brought up some great questions! Thanks again!

I would try a metallic bag such as pewter (a grayish shade) to wear with a blue, black, grey wardrobe. You already have to great colored bags in your collection!

I like either the one Alicat posted or the teal one. Teal would be beautiful for winter, but if you think of teal as summer only then that wouldn't work well.

I love the lighter bag in 2, Kelly, as well as the black/white one that Alicat showed. Shannon has dark hair and that bag is a winner with her. Of course, teal is very pretty, but in seeing the bags you currently use, one of these EL neutrals may be a fun departure for you. Now, you've got me thinking about one. As for Mr. Kitty, I'd better not show my two "boys" this photo, or they will want one, too! Davey is gorgeous, like his Mom! ^_^

I like the idea of a pewter or soft grey bag with an interesting pattern, maybe snakeskin. The Elliot Lucca has a definite greenish cast which you may not like with your colour palette. And if you CAN get it in the grey tones then I think it would be a great choice.

How to decided, so many great choices...I love the sage snake skin, the teal is so pretty too but it looks like you already have a similar color, so I vote for the snake skin in what ever color works best with your wardrobe. Love it, I might have to check those out for mwha...I would love to add a bag for fall! and as always you look Fab so good to see your smiley face today!

I like the look of those bags, but I wonder if they aren't too dressy for you? They are much dressier than the Fossil bags. On the other hand, maybe that handbag will be the perfect dresser-upper for your wardrobe.

@Vicki: Thanks! I think your are right. The grey pattern will bookend my graying hair It’s also something totally different than what I currently have.
@misvee: I thought there was a slight greenish cast--I was wondering if that would limit it’s versatility for someone who wears mostly black/grey/blue and very little in the earthy colors. You have a good eye. Thanks.
@Carole: I know, too many choices. I always get so overwhelmed when it comes to hand bags. I think because they are more of an investment than most of the clothes I buy. Nice to hear from you. I miss your WIW’s! Aren’t you due for a trip to Paris or the desert soon?
@Laura: Lol! You may definitely be indecisive. Join the club I was wondering about the dressy factor and then I thought perhaps the casual/dressy juxtaposition would work. IDK though. Thanks for chiming in. You honed in on one of my concerns!

I forgot to ask you and Shannon, does the flap aspect of the bag get in the way? Or, is there an easy way to close it?

It says that it has a magnetic closure. I assumed it was the kind that when you close it, the magnetic snap just kinds of grabs it's mate. Good question though!
