WiW and new additions for my work capsule

When you run a lean closet you can suddenly need to add to it - and that is the story of my August to date. I have had a run on essentials wearing out - which is not surprising.

My GStar jeans have ripped across the thigh - I will repair but they have been downgraded to the most casual occasions only.
I sold my black trousers with the white side stripe - they were too short and I just could not unsee it.
My rust cords have also developed a tear after three seasons of solid wear. I won't be repairing these.
My two striped long sleeve tees are leaving too due to being worn out - I don't know if I will replace or not.
I am removing the blue merino sweater - it is itchy on my skin which is unusual for me. I am just not wearing it. It was a poor purchase for me. It wasn't expensive but I should have picked this up and been more fussy.

I need to have smarter options for work especially my upcoming trade show. I have added:

wide leg black pants - love these - will be perfect all year in our climate
black silk shirt with white trim - love this - perfect for working at the tradeshow or for wearing at night with jeans. Trans-seasonal piece.
coffee slip skirt - I tried on a few of these skirts and whilst I thought I would choose a longer length, this was my preferred option. This will work most of the year here for work or weekend and is a versatile colour for me.
Black stretchy pants - a hand me down from my friend and neighbour - they are relaxed with a slightly dropped crotch - perfect for the long haul flights and a lovely easy piece.
new 1970s style sunglasses.

Whilst it is more black than usual, these pieces all work seamlessly into my closet.

Black dress out to dinner with friends - on foot - and I wore the coat and scarf to get to the restaurant.

Funnily enough I did not wear this pink sweater to the Barbie film but I wore shades of blush - mostly due to the cold walk to the movie theatre making me want to wear my rose pink coat.

I will take some photos of the other new pieces in action over the next week.

The first pic with the new skirt and sunnies is KILLER gorgeous! Try your tall boots with that outfit too. Few people look as good in tans and camels as you. Case in point - look at you rocking that toffee coat!

The skirt is gorgeous with your hair --- very cohesive! It's like Carla's in champagne with her hair! I can see you getting a lot of wear from this across all seasons.

Love the new sunnies, too, and I am glad you have found some great upgrades/ replacements for the items that have worn out. I went through something similar in the spring -- all of a sudden, things that had worked just fine were looking tired, or broke down.

What a terrific skirt. I was going to say what Suz said about how great it looks with your hair! Cute sunglasses, and the black basics you got sound great for travel as well as everyday. I really like the simple black dress, such a nice cut.

Love the new pieces: especially the sunglasses , the silk shirt and the skirt . And of course the wide leg pants . I don’t enjoy merino wool knits either and find them itchy and generally uncomfortable . I’ve given up on them .

Thanks Angie - I will wear tall boots with it - the skirt will be easy to wear for me I hope as the colour goes with almost everything! And yes annoying when everything wears out at once but on the other hand a spree means coordinated purchasing which works for me.

Thank you Slimcat - the only ;;iece that is a bit more risky is the black shirt but this was on a good sale.

Suz - yes that's how it feels with the replacements. It did feel a lot but sometimes that's how it goes. I did need some additions for the work trip anyway and my friend offered me some pants at a very good price which no longer fit her. I do like mid browns and toffees a lot!

What a lovely and feminine hiking outfit, mine is all black (except some color in my tees and hiking shoes) for fearing mud and other misshappenings!:-) Loved the new things Sal, cannot wait to see the others in action, too! YLF in the evening date outfit, very curent &up to date-love the cut of that stunning dress and the coat(+shoes)!
