WIW: Almost Rae...

Rae and I are almost twins today! I decided to try out bootcuts again with this cropped hooded sweater (thumbholes!) and a black tank top. I'm not sure I love me in bootcuts. What do you think?

Also, a picture of my attempt at a boyfriend skirt with this Burberry skirt look. Fail? I wore it with booties.

Number 1 is just such a fab, classic look. You are rocking it!

I'm not sure I'm loving the gathers on the skirt. Do you have ti sitting below your natural waist? Could you hike it up a little? I almost like it!

I really think you wear bootcuts incredibly well, Una. What exactly are you unsure about?
I'm also really liking the concept for outfit 2, and that is a beautiful skirt, but like MaryK I feel something is slightly off. Perhaps it's just the darker tights and footwear that are throwing me off. Which shoes would you wear with this, Una?

I like you in bootcuts too! They work well with the cropped sweater.

For the skirt, what is bothering me is the way the hem poofs out.

1 makes you look tall and lean! I really like 2, but the part I don't like is e length and flare of the skirt. I like the gathers at the waist and that great belt, but I think the skirt almost needs to be shorter or more tapered.

I think the bootcuts look great! I'm less sure about #2, the hem line of the skirt looks thick and bulky. In the photo it looks like the hem is topstitched, and I think the skirt would look better with a blind hem.

The bootcuts are fab, Una - and so neat that you and Rae were "almost" twins. I am really curious about what you don't like about yourself in bootcuts. They actually look fantastic on you. Which is not to say your skinnies and BFs don't look great, too -- they do! But this is a fun change.

The skirt....I don't know. It's not working for me as is. I agree that the hem is looking a bit peculiar. And now I can't remember how you showed it when you bought it. Somehow that worked better, I think.

Get those bootcuts out of the orphanage, they look awesome. I agree with the others on the skirt. It would look better shorter. Does it have a paper waist? I think you can try belting over the actual gather.

Love you in bootcuts -- particularly because these have a little more of a 70's vibe which I think suits you.

Call me an outlier --- but I like the skirt outfit. I like everything about it and I think its the shape of things to come. But the Danskos? I have a poison eye for Danskos. Of course, I'll probably drive you crazy wearing my white Keds this summer, so maybe you'll want to disregard this.

Beth, the skirt was worn with the DV Joust booties (these are my house slippers!). I think it's going to be re-consigned. It's a Burberry which was the appeal, but it's really hard to style. The bottom hem is like a waistband, which makes it hard to walk and it hits at an awkward length. Drat. I just don't feel like struggling.

Thanks for the props on the bootcuts! I wore this to basketball game and to a very casual surprise party for a friend and got tons of compliments. Yet I don't love it somehow - I wonder if it just feels a little too "classic" for me. I need to get my head around this, since I don't want to abandon an option that is flattering and lengthening to my stubby self!

Love the bootcuts on you. Love all of #1. Looks comfortable as well as stylish and elongating.

I am not a fan of #2, but honestly, I am still trying to wrap my head around slouchy. Love the yellow top my you,. I low how bright and cheery yellow is, but I can't wear it at all, so. Love it when others do.

Don't know why you are even questioning the bootcuts - they look fab on you and make your legs look long. Just a nice change up from the skinnies from time to time, don't you think?

I love the layered sweater look on you and Rae - not a look I could pull off so I will need to enjoy it on the both of you!

Sorry Una, but the skirt just isn't working for me. The combination of the gathers at the waist, the width of the skirt all the way down, and the length just make it seem like a lot of skirt for you.
