WIW: Almost all thrift shop!

Just a few photos of what I wore to a casual bistro for a belated birthday catch up with some girlfriends - touched up the lippy to allow my husband to take these quick shots when I got home!
Everything except the boots (RMK) + red pony hair clutch (Target) is from thrift stores.
Sterling silver earrings + bracelet
My wedding ring was my MIL's
Softest lambs leather pants - the most expensive item of the lot at $12!
Sleeveless vest + lightweight Kookai coat
Luxe Deluxe 100% wool knit

Continuing my style journey with a concerted effort to refuse, reduce, reuse + recycle.

You look very elegant! I am always in awe in front of people who dress so stylishly spending very little money. I am interested in your style journey. I have never been a big consumerist but I would like to do even better. For example, I am trying to build a moderate/minimal wardrobe. It's still a work in progress. And I torment my coworkers by preventing them from wasting food leftovers and water. I suspect they think I am paranoid :).

Great outfit! I love the long vest. Those are great thrift store finds. I thrift a lot too - my favorite thrift store organizes the clothes by color, which I really enjoy.

You look amazing. I have not thrifted much so far but have been trying very hard of late to purchase much less, wear my current clothes 30 times, and buy ethically. We have been composting ( not well, but to reduce food waste) for the past 14 years. We throw away very little food as try not to overbuy. I feel like I'm only partway there on a journey to less waste but am attempting

What a great set of thrift store treasures. I really like how the cowl neck works with the vest.

I buy a lot of my clothes second-hand. It's a great source of nice things I'd never be able to afford, and plus you can easily see which fabrics have held up well.

What Greyscale said. Most of my thrifted stuff is for winter as summer things just do not hold up as well, but I wear something thrifted almost every day. I enjoy the hunt and feel good about reusing rather than buying new.

Thank you for all the kind comments. I can see the gilet being such a workhorse for me - it seems to just 'pull together' so many of my outfits.

Specifically, Sisi, I too am trying to build a more refined wardrobe and resist the continual push to consume + throw. I try to give more conscious thought to how each purchase can work in the scheme of all wardrobe items. Keep up tormenting your co-workers - they'll hopefully get the message.

Runcarla + SaraL, I visit a variety of thrift stores from those well organised + colour sorted through to more haphazard places (can be fun but you really have to be in the mood to work hard), plus very occasionally car boot sales or markets.
I don't shop in consignment stores at all.
I leave no stone unturned - I've found treasures in all sections (children, mens, teens etc)

I agree Greyscale that the fabric + items can indicate if they've stood the test of time, and I particularly treasure some items I've found that were manufactured when there was more attention to detail, cut + fit.
Jenni NZ sounds like you are making great efforts in the area of consumption + waste - well done!

I too enjoy the hunt + not knowing what's in store Joy, and like you , most days I have on at least 1 thrifted item. I guess it sort of appeals to my creative side.
So true, Shevia, it is possible to look current + modern (+ hopefully not frumpy!) Often people say to me "oh, you don't look like you're dressed from an op shop' or alternatively, 'there's never anything there to fit me'.
Thanks for the haircut compliment - its not normally quite so 'fluffy' (raining in Sydney this week makes it a bit 'messier') + its due for a reshape cut next week - funny how its often just before it needs a cut that I tend to get more compliments!!

You look great - and expensive!

Many of my clothes are thrifted, too - or passed on to me by friends and acquaintances who no longer want them (because it was the wrong colour/size/style for them). However, I don't wear just anything I am offered. It has to be MY colour, size and style.

Today, I wore two thrifted items: a white skirt with black polkadots in various sizes and a white summer jumper with a black pearl embroidery picturing two flying birds. No one I know has anything like these items.
