love this...its polished with an attitude!

I really love this look on you April! It suits you. You look fresh, modern, cool, and pulled together. Great!!!!!!

Gosh. That is RATE. Dressy, but RATE. I'm beyond RATE, downright messy in fact. So I don't know I believed when I saw the thread title... Lol.

It's fantastic. You need to walk around in this outside, definitely.

Your confident smile and the fact that you obviously really like the combo shines through. You really look great!

This is rate light, and looks lovely on you. How fun to see your style shifting.

Lisa, I think that not having the stress of putting together five outfits a week that would work at my job (no denim, accommodating a non-air-conditioned office, lots of meetings with anxious parents -- some of whom came from cultures that were extremely conservative regarding women and their clothing) has let me have a lot more fun with fashion.

Woo hoo -- take note, Angie. Five years on YLF and I'm finally having fun with fashion.

I'd wear it, and I'm in your age bracket. You can totally wear that! I think you look fabulous. That's one of my favourite combinations (blazer, white tee, jeans, cool boots). Rock on.

You pull this look off fantastically, April! Totally age appropriate. I can't wait to see more April-RATE!

HAHA! Your RATE is my polished - but I love this look. I want your BFs even baggier...

Not too young at all! I'm 53 and I'll be wearing this look as soon as the weather warms up.

Looks fantastic in my book!

We'll I hope you wore it as you looked great. I think this is a current but classic look so something that women of all ages can wear.

April - fantastic!! Don't you love the everlys!! You look so great!

I will definitely be copying this!

You look sensational! And you look like you are having fun, which is even better.

Here's the happy ending. I did wear this to NYC and SO/DH loved it. He was unfamiliar with the concept of BF jeans (and these are, as Una noted, not really baggy, which he probably wouldn't appreciate, being a rear-view kind of guy) but he really liked the whole outfit.

Including the cut-out booties, which were also a new look to his eye.

So classic rate. I will be copying this with Debbie and I'm well past 49. YLF
ETA: BTW, this looks like a great example of Angie's casual ensemble from this week. Is the jacket a knit?

Love this cool chic April!!! And I am going to copy it

I echo everyone who says this looks more polished-casual than RATE. You totally look great! I especially love the boots on you.

Joy, the jacket is a classic lined blazer, but the fabric does have some texture and stretch to it. If you look very close, it looks like a deep grey tweed, but it's pretty stretchy.

Thank you all -- I'm really stunned by your kind words.

You look fabulous....and I love those little boots

You look fabulous April, and not too young at all! Very NY chic! Cool booties! And I just ordered some Everlane tees--hope they work for me too!

Ha- glad to see this outfit had a happy ending because you look fantastic!

Wowza! This look is incredible on you and should become an regular formula, absolutely. Terrific for the city, as long as you didn't get blisters from going sockless!

April, I can't tell you how much I love this look on you. So Much FUN.

*thud*

BETH!!! There you are, my fellow school psychologist! Thank you so much for posting; I've really missed you here since I came back to the forum in January.

Totally fab, April! How's New York?

Hi Debora! NYC was looking pretty sweet when I left it a few hours ago. Kind of a grey day but still -- hard not to be knocked out by the Manhattan skyline.
