Here's a dress I made out of left-over fabric, to try out a pattern and an idea I had. The tank dress pattern has a wide, tapered band around the bottom, which creates a lantern shape. I sewed the wide band out of a sheer mesh knit, and the rest of the dress out of a print knit.

I am not crazy about the mesh knit at the bottom (or perhaps the mesh knit in combo with the little foulard print), and the opaque part of the dress isn't long enough for me to feel comfortable wearing it bare-legged. Today I decided to try it today with footless tights. I needed the cardigan while I was in A/C, but I much prefer to leave it off, and can do so for most of the day.

I may not wear the dress again, though I will probably use the pattern again--I like the simple style of it, and the fit around the neck and armholes. Sometimes I'll do this--make up a garment, wear it once, then donate it. Kind of a one-wear-wonder--like a "one-hit wonder" in the music world, except not really a hit, and hence, not much of a wonder, for that matter.

Thanks for looking! I welcome your thoughts, as always.
