Thank you Approprio! It's actually stranded colour knitting, like fair isle, in which both colours of yarn are used through the whole round; I haven't learned how to do intarsia yet. Hence why the swans go all the way around the yoke.
Ruth, thank you so much! I added the swirly bits to the cuffs myself (it's around the body ribbing too, but you can't see that when I tuck it in), so I really appreciated your comment.
Beth Ann, I definitely suspect my love for autumn and cold winters has a lot to do w my love for woolen a! I'm definitely a much happier knitter up north than I was in south Texas.
