I finally found a pencil skirt that fits! I feel very "MaryK" in my skirt even though it's not a seamed Halogen skirt (I hope you will forgive me for not having a blazer either, none of them fit currently).

The skinny belt recalls Day Vies to me and she loves bold patterns (Old Navy butterfly dress!) and the whole outfit reminds me of Natalie (golden pig) with more tailored fits and fun accessories!

Pencil skirt suggestions are very welcome! Not quite sure what to wear with it...

This is gorgeous on you lyn. I really like the length of the pencil skirt on you and the skinny belt adds a lovely detail. This is an extremely flattering and appropriate outfit for work.

As for what to wear with the pencil skirt, try all sorts of things - blouses tucked and semi-tucked, fluid knits, you name it.

I would think that pencil skirt outfits would be perfect for you to wear to work, and you can wear them with any kind of sleeve or sleeveless blouse, and also with knitwear. I think you've got another winning silhouette to add to your repertoire!

Very nice, indeed! I hope you come to like this silhouette, too; it's great on you. I wear my pencils with hip-length tops untucked, or tucking fitted/fluid tops in & belting.

Thanks everyone for your feedback - the untucked tops I'll have to think about. I'm not really into waist-surrender, but maybe a semi-tuck?

I like to do untucked or semi-tucked tops with my pencil skirts, but then I have a protruding tummy (and you do not). You could go untucked and belted too. The way you are wearing this top/skirt combo is gorgeous!

This is so lovely on you! What a fun change. I adore the blouse, too -- such feminine fresh colours and so sharp at the same time. I think you might feel less self conscious once you get a bit more used to wearing the silhouette. Although you are bound to get some looks because you look so great!!

Dior skirt and outfit! I love pencil skirts with waists more near my natural waist like that, and they're hard to find.

It's harder to semi- tuck into a high and fitted waist.

I like to get some " different" looks from some of me basics so with pencil skirts I like to do some tucked and some untucked. If you haven't ruled out waist- surrender completely, remember there are different degrees- you might use an untucked knit top that is made so it has some fit through the waist; then there are some fine knitsthat " collapse" into the waist( and more so if you already have the hourglass frame for it). Another tucked look would be a more fluid silk blouse
that poufs out just a tad to be more unstructured in contrast to the skirt. Do you do peplums? Not sure when they are in or out of style but I still like
them.
Then you would also look great with a fitted jacket over the skirt-- some of these are belted and some just nipped at the waist.

Karie, I assure you I have some belly too ... which is really strange because I don't have it in certain positions. I have a doctor's appointment about this, because I'm worried it's not "belly" and something else.

Suz - bahhhh, I sort of like blending in sometimes, and I think a pencil helps me do that actually. Most of the other young docs wear more streamlined things, so makes me stand out less. Yay.

Umm... AJ, I've worn a dress beneath a pencil before, but this is just a blouse, it's not a full dress. I only am able to do it with the dresses that are so tight it shows my belly :p

Unfrumped - I used to wear pencils with peplums only because it'd hide my belly. I think I need to invest in some silk blouses! They sound very pretty.
