WIW 1/4 and 1/5: A copycat and a version of an old favorite!

1/2. Three work days into the new year, and this is the second copycat look! I may be batting only .3333 for originality, but I am batting close to 1.000 for outfit happiness! I would never have put this combination together on my own but I was pretty happy with it! Thanks, Bravoe Runway!

Houndstooth knit jacket: Ellen Tracy via Marshall's (from Shoptoberfest!)
Green pullover: Amber Sun
Yellow pencil skirt: Halogen
Black patent pumps: Madden Girl
Black tote with gold studs: Coach via eBay

Even though I was happy with the overall outfit, I'm not 100% sold on the fit of the jacket. It was a little big all over and I had it taken in, but now I think it looks disproportionately wide in the shoulders. What do you all think?

3. Yesterday (Saturday) we went to a matinee of an amazing play ("Other Desert Cities")and I busted out a variation of an old favorite -- black sequined tank over white jeans and my new Foxcroft faux chambray shirt. Added the daytime clutch per Angie's inspiration and was really happy I did because the attendant in the parking structure complimented me on it while Mr. K was parking the car! Pre-YLF I would never have worn sequins in the daytime but I felt great in this outfit.

The houndstooth jacket! Fab copy and to think I was there for the purchase! I do not think it's too wide; in fact, it looks better and less boxy than I remember.

That said, I ADORE your second outfit - it is supercool and flattering.

Well, once again, you take the inspiration picture and make it more interesting with your own natural eye towards color.
The jacket does not look boxy,. There is a taper at the waist and the cut of the front is very waist flattering. # 2 is perfect for a theater matinee, casual but with a festive nod.
I just love that.

These are both fabulicious! The houndstooth jacket is great, no worries there and I adore it with a yellow skirt - never thought of that (note to self: get yellow skirt). And that second outfit? You look HOT!!! Was anybody even paying attention to the play or were they all staring at you wondering who this gorgeous and stylish woman was?

We are piling up in the fainting corner! Both are just delicious and delightful. The houndstooth jacket looks great and not at all boxy. The shoulders look just wide enough to slenderize without invoking any thoughts of the 80's.
