WiW 1/11 and a few Yea or Nays

It's been so long since I posted a WiW!

1. This is what I'm wearing today, and one of my favorite outfits lately. I love these new Fluevog boots immoderately.

2. Yea or Nay: Vintage velvet tunic. I had envisioned wearing it with denim leggings and boots but I think it's a little long - I won't ever wear it as a dress, so I could have it taken up and the sleeves shortened, but should I bother? I love this silhouette of volume over skinnies lately, and it's really comfortable.

3. New denim jacket - I have a hard time finding ones that are short enough to wear with skirts, but I happened upon this in the Girls' section of all places. It actually buttons! Here it is open,

4. And closed. Yea or Nay?

What boots are they? Bondgirls? They look great with the shirt and skinnies.

2 I think is a miss. It looks a little too costumey to my eye.

The boots are Altos (from the Stop It family). I had a gift certificate and went in looking for brown boots, but the Bondgirls were too tall for me and I didn't love anything else and then I put these on and the angels sang. I never expected to end up with purple boots!

Confirming my suspicions about the velvet tunic. I'll put it back up on eBay.

Love your WIW! The blouse and boots are fabulous.

I'm not crazy about the tunic. It looks a little ren faire to me, and that's not something I care for much. Personal thing

The denim jacket looks great to me!

Outfit no.1 is great! A wide belt would look great with it. The bintage tunic could be worn as a dress. And I prefer the unbuttoned look over the dress.

Love outfit #1! This is such a great look. Not too crazy about the velvet tunic. Jacket looks great open to me.

Going to be the outlier and say I rather like the tunic --- and think it's current length is well balanced. I see the ren faire point --- and it's a fair point, but that's WHY I like it. I don't mind one costumey element when their are other hallmarks of modern provenance about it (jeggings and purple boots, say).

Tricia ! It really is so good to see you back. You look great. I like your hair long.

I like 1 quite a bit. In reality, such a "simple" outfit, yet really fantastic. I love the length and fit of the shirt.

I am not feeling the velour top. I think that it is the gold "lace"....Though maybe for a holiday with black leggings ?

The jacket is great !

Velour top is up on eBay. That's the only thing about vintage, it usually can't be returned, but I've had good luck with selling it back. In fact, one dress I bought that turned out to be WAY too costumey in a Betty Draper kind of way (but was in fabulous condition) got bid up to $265 after I had paid $40 for it! Not that that will happen here, but that justified a few purchases at the time!

I actually need a take a couple of inches off my hair - I am hopeless at actually DOING anything to it, so the longer it gets the more it hangs there. But it's a whole lot better than the awful growing-out-pixie stage I was in when I first came to YLF!

I agree completely with what Ceit wrote. Pictures 1, 3 and 4 are fabulous. Picture 2 looks wrong to my eye.

The WIW is so nice, the boots do it for me. As far as 2, I think you can do better, so I vote Nay. The whole thing feels dated to me. The jean jacket is a classic and fits great, yey!

Love your WIW and the denim jacket is a great find (smart and resourceful shopper, you!), but #2 ... the tunic/dress ... just screams Renaissance Faire. Unless you enjoy eating enormous turkey legs and watching jousting matches in your spare time, I'd find a new home for it. Oh, I see it's on eBay and someone bid on it. Great! Fair thee well, ye olde velvet tunic!

Love #1 --- simple but stunning! I think the denim jacket will be very versatile and, even at 5'6" it's tough to find the right length.

Glad the tunic is going to a good home. Maybe something else in velvet?
