WIW : 1/4 - New shirtdress (update for Suz/Jaime down thread)

Hi Everyone

A quick pic of my new shirtdress. A rare brand new purchase with birthday money from my MIL in Feb. Warm enough to wear it today. I love that it is versatile, can be worn belted or unbelted and open as a duster with jeans. Also reminds of a dress I had in 1978 when I was 12 yrs!

Pic 2 is for my evening walk in cooler temps. Added leggings, navy combat boots and navy puffa. Pink lipstick to match the pink stripe of my socks For some reason the pink is not visible and my hair is super orange haha, not like this IRL.

I am loving this dress!

Thanks RobinF, so do I! This is my 3rd in recent times and this one immediately feels right. I think it is the length. The other two are midi's and I know I am an outlier on this but I much prefer myself in a knee length dress. The back hem is a bit longer on this one, a subtle high/low hem, so I am happy with the extra coverage behind, for leaning over, etc.

Suz Thanks! Anchie did inspire me. It is a temporary washout colour so no serious commitment required. I can wear earth tones again which were not so great with silver hair. Funny thing is this hair colour goes with more colours. My silver hair was very cool.

Wow, I will be curious to see how it washes out! I could try something like that, too...

My silver is very cool as well -- and I don't wear earth tones as a result. Except occasionally taupe. I like chocolate brown a lot, too, though, and that still looks good. It's just that I didn't want to buy into it heavily when it was trending because I only need so many dark neutrals.

Angie Thanks! It is a classic and I love it. It is black.
Suz & Jaime I did my hair one month ago for the first time. Only the first application is intense (I redid it yesterday). It faded to a pinkish/peachy blonde - NOT yellow. I love it, never ever thought blonde will suit me. I will post progressive pics this month so you can see. Funny the colours that looked good with silver (purple, teal, etc) still look good but the colours that looked terrible with silver (peach, spring green, etc) look fabulous. Double bonus is that I can wear all my clothes again. When I was a dark brunette there was no colour that really looked bad so when my hair was silver it was a shock to see how bad some looked. This hair colour brand is local and is not permanent or semi-permanent. Lasts up to 10 washes. Interestingly when it faded it blended so well with my silver, even the dreaded one month 'skunk' line was barely visible. So glad you like it!!

Wow, that sound great. I am hestitant to put any temporary dye into my hair because I am afraid it will not fully wash out and leave the white parts yellowish. This once happened with some face product I used and it drove me crazy! Also, interesting about the effect on your clothing choices. I find, ironically, that I wear some grey less well now than when my hair was dark.

That's amazing, Star -- very intriguing! I have the same feelings Jaime does -- worry that it will stain my hair brassy. But I would like to try something at some point.

A few years ago I had lowlights put in front -- charcoal strips. But I didn't love it. There was no problem with grow-out, however, so that was good.

Thanks Bluejay - I love your dress! I think mine is going to get a lot of wear too.
Jaime/Suz I too was worried about yellow staining but this seems to fade pink. Fortunately I am planning on keeping this maintained for some time. For a month it is not yellow, after that maybe. However this type of product does not enter the hair shaft at all. We will see!
SunTiger I know you love black. Today is my first wearing of a new-to-me thrifted (but is like new) black cotton button down with a mandarin collar. I am veering towards black again.
