WIW 10 day warm weather Business Trip + Sightseeing

Here is a look at what I packed for a 10 day business trip:

Warm weather
5 international long distance flights (Seattle/Hong Kong/Singapore/Beijing)
Warm temps and cool airplanes
Business formal (clients)
Smart casual (offices)
Casual (sightseeing)
Downtime (pool/lounging)
Fit into 19" international carry on and oversize work tote+laptop

I hope this helps anyone else with a similar trip. I wanted to document it so I don't forget next time. It was definitely easier with warm weather but could be adapted to cold weather.

What I forgot: athletic shoes, flip flops
What I didn't need: an extra shirt, 2 pairs of dress shoes

These are not the exact items but I think it worked because everything coordinated.

Very nice! I can see that you would get a lot of variety out of this selection. I need to remember to pack patterns and colours when trying to pack lightly, I tend to go all neutral and boring.

I am in awe, actually.

I'm curious, what did you wear on the plane rides?

Hi Elizabeth, The patterns were the key to tying the whole thing together. My pallete was black, light gray, light and darker blue, with the blush dress for fun.

One of the pairs of pants is actually a black legging. I wore them under either the stripe or grey casual dresses on the plane with the ballet flats, grey cardigan and a black pashmina. I even doubled up the cardigans (hiding the blue one) a couple of times because the plane was cold. It worked really well.

@Joy, I had to pack light because of late flights, early mornings and sharing taxis/uber with colleagues. Plus the anxiety of somehow losing my bag and clothes on a business trip. This is the suitcase I can normally fill just for a weekend but it worked out!

I'm super impressed!!! Looks chic and versatile.

So important to record this for posterity too, I keep gmail drafts of my packing lists so I can access them easily across my devices... but I don't revisit them immediately post-travel! I should take a page from your book.

That is a great travel capsule! Now you have to show us how to pack it into a small carry-on. I suppose you took few small-sized toiletries as well.

Did you have to wash things? I know that if I was in HK or S'pore at this time of year, I'd sweat through everything I had on every day and not want to re-wear it. I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out clothes for a trip to a formal yet hot city next month.

@Sterling I didn't take workout shoes or clothes I figured I was getting enough exercise sightseeing. I regret not having tennis shoes because they would have been really nice. I would swap out one pair of pumps next time.

@joyce i did take all my travel toiletries but did not take a hair dryer. The hotels had some nice amenities in the rooms so could have left a few things at home. I literally rolled all my clothes up on one side of the suitcase and on the other side put my shoes, flat iron, toiletries and electronics. No room for souvenirs. It was a tight fit.

@ummLila I tried to pack enough outfits, especially tops, so I wouldn't have to wash anything. It was definitely a concern so I took really lightweight clothes. I did have to rewear two of the casual dresses on flights.

I know you said these aren't your exact items, but I love this capsule! Love the feminine tops and bathing suit. Sounds like a hectic but fun trip.

I'm impressed. It looks great, and I can see how it served your purposes well. I would agree with your idea of packing sneakers next time. I take my Mephisto sneakers on trips often, and in addition to wearing them sightseeing, I'll wear them to the gym (for something like riding an exercycle or using a stair machine) or to/from the pool. l am with you on using the sightseeing & city walking for exercise, though. That's often plenty for me.
