Hello lovely ladies,

Tuesday I didn't have time to take an outfit picture but yesterday we tried.
There was a lot of wind and I hope that between the two pictures you can see that i am wearing a long gray cardigan with a faux layer of gauzy fabric inside that I tied to make it shorter.
I thought I had married a perfect man but I was proved wrong.I found some cute rain boots with animal print at a reasonable price and was comparing notes with DH when he gave me a most dictatorial 'no way'.Well, it was not dictatorial but he did threaten me with sending a photo of me in said boots to What Not to Wear show in what he thought was a witty approach to the situation.
I didn't buy the boots for different reasons but I wonder what men have against animal print.
Oh well..

I like your outfit. Very feminine and pretty. The flats finish it off perfectly.

Funny how some men have an aversion to animal print!! Celia I have rain boots in animal print:). I must post them and see what you think. They were a Xmas gift from a friend and I can't wait to get some wear out of them.

Those boots were lovely and in a pretty neutral black and brown animal print, but they were not very thick and I couldn't wear them for snowy slushy days.
I am thinking it might be better for me to invest in some good rain boots like the hunter ones where you can add lining to them.
I would love to see yours.

eh eh that's fun because I had a leopard print rain boots and my hubby hated too! I think men are more conservative and prefer basic colors like black or navy!

Beautiful outfit, Celia! So breezy and feminine. If it's windy during outfit photos, I say just go with it. I actually like when I can tell the outfit is moving around in photos, it makes me feel more like I saw it in person (that probably sounds crazy). But I get a sense of how it moves with a person and I really like that.

Many men have a poisoned eye for animal print - no idea why. My hubby absolutely detests the colour brown and says he knows it's irrational but there it is anyway!

I love how the white toe of your flats (which are adorable BTW) plays off the light colour of the cardi. I love the gauzy look of it. Lovely outfit!

I think animal print rainboots fall in the same category as stuffed animals, Barbie's, and plastic horses for men: Little Girl, which creeps them out. 15 will get you 20...

Too funny about the animal print rain boots. I think Alicat has some too. Anyway, your outfit is terrific, I love those flats! And I love an outfit that has some movement on a windy day, so the gauzy top is just perfect!

Oh no! How disappointing to find out your man is a leopard-hater. :-). My last similar experience was over a top that he commented "well it's definitely not pretty"

LOL rachylou! My DH would say that - he hates the women who like little girl things. I have friends who carry Hello Kitty bags (I know, so not FAB) and it makes him squeamish.

Just reassure your DH Celia that you made your decision based on logic!

I love the wrap sweater on you! I had one and couldn't figure out how to make it work for me. Interesting point about animal print. My DH loves it in scarves but definitely isn't crazy about it in footwear. I have my eye on a leopard top so we'll see how he responds to that.

To answer your question about why men don't like animal print: in general (and this is a big generalization, to which there are undoubtedly many exceptions), they think it is either

a. tacky
b. cheap
c. old ladyish
d. a little skanky
e. all of the above

I'm not saying I don't like animal print -- when done right, it can look fabulous and stylish. But men often associate one or more of the above with animal print (especially leopard).
