WiW- some newer pieces in

Here are some recent looks.

The first three all feature my new cargo pants that I was talked into. I am wearing three different stylings here for work ( the first) and for weekend ( the second two).

I wore my zebra print dress for an event to watch the Melbourne Cup (horserace) at a local bar. I could have worn a hat but went straight from work so just swapped shoes and my bag.

The wide pants feel very oversized and I am still adjusting to the fit. I prefer them in the casual looks to the work one. I am determined to make them work so ideas are welcome!

The cut of the new cargo pants is excellent on you. And clearly they are very versatile and work with lots in your wardrobe. I especially like the first one but that is more my mood than anything about the other two. The zebra dress is smashing on you - love!

The new cargo pants is a great style on you! I like all the ways you've styled them so far. I also think the yellow bag would work nicely with the cargo pants and blue top outfits. Yellow and that color on the cargo pants will go well together.

So far the cargo pants have been worn with a dark top and a printed top. I think pairing them with a solid white top or tee, could be a nice outfit, maybe a white tee with white sneakers and the yellow bag? It would be an overall light look and have a casual vibe.

The zebra dress is perfection!

The cargo pants look great on you, Sally! I'm curious -- you mention you were talked into them. Do you still have doubts? I like all the looks you show but particularly with the print blouse. In any case, the pants look extremely versatile. They do skew casual, but your workplace can be a big rugged at times if I am not mistaken, and it might be fun to juxtapose them with more feminine items. Take with a grain of salt...my cargos are 3 years old and still going strong for me....

Of course you look spectacuar in the zebra dress! Fabulous on you!

Fabulous Sal! The pants and the dress. When going quite a bit wider or slimmer in legs I always find a period of mental adjustment is necessary. All good but my favourite is #2.

The cargo pants look perfect on you! Across all the outfits, the fit and style are really great—I love them. I also love all three outfits you've created here. There's a fantastic variety of silhouettes and vibes—really well done! I know it's summer now, but my thoughts go to toppers like leather jackets or blazers. The cargo pants will look amazing with structured toppers too.

Sal those cargo pants that you were "talked into" really look great on you. They have nice proportions and I like the way you've styled them too. Great casual chic vibe Perhaps this wider silhouette is just something you can eventually get used to wearing as your eyes adjusts to this particular style, or is it more about how they actually feel on you as opposed to how they look? Maybe the fabrication just feels heavier than you're accustomed to.

The zebra dress looks incredible on you, suits you to a tee.

That zebra dress is gorgeous on you, I hope you enjoyed the race. I have been put off horse racing with the potential for the horses to get injured and so have not gone to a Melbourne Cup celebration in about 10 years, but must confess to enjoying the Cup fashion.

THE DRESS, Sal! KILLER - love the mustard accents

Looking super cute in the cargos too! All renditions work well. I like them best with your sneakers in #1. I like the way the hems are longer and fall over the vamps. Can you wear #1 to work on a Friday?

It looks like you are doing volume with volume. Have you tried a fitted tee as an option?

I love the trousers! I agree with Angie. I think no 1 works best because the trousers look long and luxurious with the sneakers. I think they look a bit short with heels in no 3. Can you wear them with sneakers or more dressy but flat shoes to work? I like them with the top in no 2. I think any shorter top will work well.

Lisa - I agree, white and yellow would work well with these pants. These are the other tops I own that could work with them.

Thanks Jenni - I liked the top with them too.

Suz - I went into a boutique where a stylist was assisting - and between her and the retail assistant they convinced me they were awesome - and I did need some new pants. They were pricey, and I am still adjusting to them, slightly stiffer fabric than my other wide leg pants. And whilst I like this camel or tan, and it is useful, I need to make sure there is some contrast for me in the outfit.

Katerina - these will work for all seasons bar winter here, I could experiment with jackets in autumn.

Dee - I think it is the feel, they make me feel quite blocky - but I don't think they look that way. But I am determined to make them work and persevere.

Bijou - I was a bit reluctant so didn't go all out with headgear etc.. It was okay but not quite my thing either.

Angie - thank you. I did wear the first one to work, for some days in engineering that is definitely dressy enough.

cat2 - not yet, but I will try with a white tank or fitted black tee. I could do with a new tee in a bright colour, maybe tomato red. I love red and camel.

I will check re the length with the chunky sandals, they didn't feel short but I am not always great with lengths. In 2 with the slides they feel almost too long. I didn't like them on me with the pointy toe flats, they felt too flat and low to the ground.

Nice to see they have potential - I try not to wear denim/jeans in summer so these are a good easy option. And to work I wore the zebra dress with sneakers which felt fine - I just need to wear my lovely dresses more.

Haha Sharan! I am wearing them today with a blazer and fitted tank which I quite like actually although my shoes are letting me down as I have a sore foot:(

I have had a few pairs of wider legs and the first four finds have been an easy adjustment for me. The brown ones with pleats did get 30 wears but I never found them easy to wear. And the jeans are okay but I don't love them.

All outfits look breezy. Have you thought about tucking those cargos into some boots, safari style? Or just generally pulling out a safari/resort style with footwear, etc?
