This is what I wore to speak with the team that takes care of my dear relative with serious medical condition.
After some stress eating my jackets are tight so I have this new AK jacket that needs about 1" shortening of the sleeves but had no time to shorten them. I wanted to wear a dark fuscia linen jacket but that looked like fun that I was not having so I went with AK, a Halogen dark fuscia top with black dots and black pants. There is a black garbage bin to one side that blends with my pants making them look wider than they are.
I also like to add red or a similar color to feel stronger. My main goal with this outfit was to look serious, I hope I accomplished that, what do you think?
We got some encouraging news but still need to battle.

Thanks to all of you for your support.
The appts went well, I am used to them by now but this week's appointment was a particularly important one so I was feeling very stressed out. I reminded myself to be strong by wearing the dark fuscia top, a definite armour for me.
Things went well but you are always on your toes in situations like these. The moment you get too confident you get reminded that you are not the boss.
Life is fragile and can change quickly, we only have the present and there are no guarantees.

As Sheila mentioned, having a healthcare advocate is extremely helpful when you are a patient and you need to navigate the system or just need some support.
When it comes to advocating, it is always easier to help someone else than to help yourself regardless of how much you know, everyone can use a hand from a caring relative or friend.
And as we know from the forum, it helps to dress the part.
We are praying for a good outcome.

Joyce, I know I would take you seriously. I'm sorry you are in this position. I think it's great when a family brings an advocate with them to a team meeting or appointment at our program. I hope your relative's medical team was receptive to your presence and intervention on his/her behalf.

Thanks, SF. When they see me, which is at every appointment and procedure, they know I am looking for a discussion about progress and treatment plans. We go to a top center with very high volume so I interact efficiently because their time with the patients is limited.
I see many patients who have to go alone, I feel bad for them as I don't know how they do it.
I think your patients and their relatives are lucky to have such a caring professional.
