WIW - Team Wear for a concert

The Aiko sparkly top from the Shoptoberfest Marshall's trip made its debut tonight. Went to dinner and the Neko Case concert in DC with a friend.

I included a version with scarf and jacket for warmth. And a close up so you can see the sparkliness in the top and scarf.

Jeans: Hudson Beth baby boot

Scarf: I have no idea, I've had it so long
Clutch: Melie Bianco

Loved wearing this. Happiness factor very high.

You look great! Perfect choice for a concert! They are definitely one of my favorite events to dress for, but it can be difficult to choose the right look!

Just like dressing for different aspects of your job, there's more factors than you'd expect: the type of music, venue, etc. Sorry for rambling, but you nailed it!

That bag is awesome, btw! Love love love an oversized clutch!

Janet, you are such a beautiful woman. Your dark hair and your eyes are so striking.

That sweater is fantastic. I did not notice the sleeve detail on the Shoptoberfest thread. I think you carry that clutch so effortlessly, I enjoy that so much on others that as I simply have no room in my life to develop any relationship with the clutches at the moment, so this is always a treat.

And I love the scarf so much - with that subtle sparkle it's sort of dressy grunge if it makes any sense.

Fabulous outfit. The scarf looks wonderful with the sweater, a perfect match. The clutch and watch are perfect and I like how the light and darker elements play off each other but keep the focus on you. I just love the scale and flow of the whole outfit. Elegant but relaxed, interesting but subtle. Your boots are TDF!! Love, hope it was a wonderful evening.

The back of that top has a cool cutaway detail -- definitely needs a tank top underneath. I also wore a metallic belt that could only be seen in the back view.

I avoided wearing any jackets with zippers with that top -- it seems pretty delicate, and I didn't want to snag it. The Gibson jacket to the rescue! I am so worried I'll wear out that blazer -- this is why I'm on the hunt for a similar black jacket in the long run.

Such a killer sweater on you (and Rae) . You've kept it unfussy but the jacket and scarf (with unexpected plaid) build a great basic cool silhouette. I love those boots.

I meant to add that the concert was outstanding. As always, Neko Case puts on a fantastic performance, even with a chest cold her voice is amazing. My husband and I befriended her pedal steel/guitar/banjo player while we were in Austin, and he got me tickets for the sold out show, so it was a special treat.

RoseandJoan, your comment stuck in my mind, and I really appreciate it. Relaxed dressing with nothing forced is a great way to articulate what I'm after, even though I've never thought of it in those terms before. Thank you!

The Hudson baby boots look amazing on you. Are they a newer addition to your wardrobe or left over from the prior boot cut craze? (Does that sound snarky? Not intended. I've been thinking about a pair of boot cuts but the leg line has to be "just so" and these look like they have that.)

The Hudsons are from two years ago, Denise. Interestingly, though, they are still at Nordstrom -- the cut seems to be popular. I like the slight boot cut -- sometimes a jean that's too full in the leg actually makes my legs look even bigger, and I am DEFINITELY not into that. I've actually wondered if I should get another pair of them for the inevitable day when these wear out.
