Well, me fabbies, it's good to be back with a WIW, cuz it's been a while!

Can you believe I am on a year-long SYC? Yes, I am insane. It seemed like such a good idea back in January, but it definitely feels monkish right about now. If you're into punishment, I highly suggest it. Good for the soul, I'm sure. Deprivation is not my thing, so it has been quite a task. I'm doing it to save money for a vacation. May the ascended Jedi masters of fashion give me strength!

That said, there are two great benefits of SYC. One is pairing up old favorites in different ways. The other benefit is ... wait ... hmmm ... I guess there's only one.

I paired up these fairly new teal jeans with an agèd relic: a Mexican-style embroidered tunic. Popped on my Capt Kirk booties. Topped it all off with my Angie-blessed cardigan from her September visit last year. And with my Ellery Queen hat I was all ready for detectin' and possibly some light espionage.

I was very happy with the pants being the colored part of this outfit, because it seemed unexpected. This is my version of "edgy".

It's also kinda steampunk (go with me here) because the jacket and hat have a Victorian feel, while the boots and jeans are more modern and utilitarian.

Fabulous writing as always, and great little outfit too. Is it really cool enough down there for that cardigan? I'm happy not to see anything chunky again until fall, even if we have the weather for it The hat is fun. I think it'd be great paired with those pants and a pile of white and gray. I'll be cheering you on your SYC from here!

Great outfit! I like the colored jeans with the black and white top. I'm impressed with your SYC goal. I'm trying a very limited monthly budget and I'm finding even that very constricting.

Sara - thank you and I believe you that it is constricting. I have a very small amount from a returned gift at Kohl's and that credit has been causing me so much angst. I can't figure out what to spend it on, because what if it's the wrong thing? Oh, the pressure!

You are so strong! I'm impressed with a year-long SYC. It would be very, very hard for me to do. Very. I think I would have self-medicated with either copious amounts of chocolate or booze by now.

JackieC - Thank you for the kind comment! My eyes are hazel so they kind of reflect different things, but their normal color at rest is more khaki.

Janet - Hi! Thank you so much, sweet girl! I am flattered that you describe me as spunky. Plus you cracked me up with your self-medication comment, you are funny! But realistic! In fact I worry that next year I will bust loose and start a buying binge just to make up for my "diet". I may need that medicine you spoke of.

Caro - Thank you! I think of that cardigan as a kind of Caro garment because it is my one piece that is more flowy, and of course, it's black! We are going to the Grand Canyon and Sedona which are in the American Southwest, and are gorgeous rock features. Probably going in the fall, we have been there many times and just keep returning. They call to us.

Maybe you need to put pictures of Sedona and the Grand Canyon on your closet door for motivation?
