WIW - question about trench coat

I am wearing this outfit today for working at my desk, no meetings. Most of the items are new except trench coat. How does it look? Do I need a new one? It feels very roomy even over the jacket but is it still passable?

And - is this jacket too short for pants?

Great outfit! I like the colours together. The jacket and scarf and trousers go v well together. The jacket looks the right length for the trousers. I'm not sure about the trench coat because I can't really tell.

Love the outfit-head to toe, so rich in texture! I think the old trench looks fine but I can relate not feeling the crispiness anymore even harder when everything else is new, but still looks great to my eyes! Jacket is on the shorter side for the pants but you have a slim and great figure so I wouldn't bother except you'll feel like it's short by your very own.

lyn67, thank you for your nice words. I did not feel that jacket is short but because of all the recent posts about long torso and short jackets I became unsure.

You look perfectly proportioned to me, neither short nor long waisted.
I don't think the jacket is too short, but, I'm not a reliable judge, a short jacket on a long torso doesn't look bad to me.
I love the look, flattering and professional.
The trench looks ok to me : just belt it tight. I was looking for a trenchcoat last week, actually, and the trendy ones are really oversized anyway - they swallowed me whole

Trench hangs well from the shoulders. Is it in good repair? If no bad signs of wear, I vote keep. (Also, what skylurker said...).

I like the jacket with the pants. I also like the trench. A classic trench is always current in my view. Great scarf.

I think that outfit looks great. You look good in those colors. I love the jacket's texture, details, and length. Like you, I have noted that people here tend towards longer pieces. I think that's a reflection of the group, not a universal style thing.
In these pix, it's hard to see any worn-looking spots on the trenchcoat. The long Burberry would be a change, whether as a replacement or just for days when you want something a little different.

I love this outfit. The repeating colors and mix of textures is beautiful to me. I don't think the jacket is too short. The trench is a nice classic trench, but it looks much too big to my eye. At least a full size too big. It doesn't do the sharp outfit underneath justice. Just my gently meant opinion.

skylurker - thank you for the nice compliments. I was never sure if I am long or short waisted, but the fact is that the waist on most dresses is hitting me above my natural waist. That is why I concluded that I must be long waisted.
Runcarla - trench is few years old and worn daily through fall and spring and there is no obvious signs of wear. But I just felt sloppy in it today for some reason.

Scarlet - thank you for such a nice and thoughtful feedback. That was actually my concern that trench is too big. Shoulders are about 3 cm wider then shoulders of the jacket beneath. And sleeves seem too long.

Angie - do you have opinion on the jacket length? Is it ok with pants or better left to be worn with skirts and dresses?

Suz - LOL. I wish, but I think it is still to soon to get such high ticket item after weight loss. Do you remember how much you waited after your weight loss to purge too big items and to buy more expensive clothes?

Not Suz, but I lost 20 lbs over 6 months almost 2 years ago. I thought losing 15 would where I would stop, but another 5 lbs came off shortly there after. Then I bounced up and down, up quickly when I travel, then back down slowly when I'm home. I've been steadier for the past 9 months, still popping up a bit now and then, but not as high, and taking it off more quickly.

I am finding seasonal patterns in my weight, usually highest in fall and lowest in spring. (I travel a lot in summer and cross country ski most days in winter.). But right now I'm actually at the lowest end of my range because I'm figuring some things out. So I am only now feeling like this may be my settled point. Your path may differ, but look to see if you have seasonal changes-you might want to make it through your bad season before you make a major investment in a tailored piece.

I did some second hand shopping to tide me over in the meantime.

The outfit is awesome and fits you perfectly. The trench looks a bit too big. Maybe it was easier to notice after seeing you in that gorgeous Burberry.
