My first styling of the Topshop vest! I brought it to work with me and have not taken the tags off yet. This is size 6. What do you think of the fit? Is this an okay styling? I was gonna wear a skirt with it but it turned very cold and damp here and I also wanted feedback before I actually wear it.

And finally, does it look okay on me? Thank you for your feedback and any suggestions!

I like it a lot zipped up! I think if you want to wear it open, try bootcut jeans. I like the look of a balanced top and bottom and prefer open jackets with more volume with jeans that have more volume at the bottom too. I'm not sure it'll work, but it's worth a try! I do like the vest though!

What Maneera said...I like it both ways but I like the idea of it unzipped with flares or bootcuts.

With what you are wearing, I like it unzipped best. My OCD doesn't like that little bit of shirt peeking out from underneath it when it is zipped. I think it's because it looks more formal zipped and when a shirt pokes out from underneath, I think it is a more casual look. Kwim?

I can see what Maneera is saying to balance it out. The vest has a lot of elements to it and it does look a bit visually heavy. I can't wait to see how else you style it because it's an awesome piece!

Thanks Maneera and Carole. I will have to try it open with wider bottom pants. I thought I'd probably never wear it zipped, but I kind of liked it too.

Thanks BethT. I don't like the top peeking out from the bottom either and wouldn't wear it that way if I zip it for real. Good point on its visual heaviness. It will help me to keep that in mind with future stylings.

You look great Donna, I prefer the vest unzipped but I think it works zipped too. It looks a stiff fabric, and sits out from your body - but with your slim frame I think you can carry it off.

I have a terrible habit of zipping all my jackets up subconsciously.

Looks good both ways to my eye! Do like the suggestion of trying it with bootcut also.
I really like that color on you, as well. It can be tricky to find the "right" taupe/sand/whatever-that color-is - this one is perfect on you!

Thanks Sally. Do you think it is too big? I started with a 10 and wasn't sure whether to try the 4 or the 6. Lol at your zipping up unconsciously - I'm the opposite as I usually find myself unzipping or unbuttoning.
Thanks Ryce. That's good to hear on the color. I really like it with these maroonish browns and think I'll probably like it with whites, black and maybe even teal?

Also think the color is great , so hard to do beiges but this has very good " presence".

Much prefer it done up, because of the structural nature of the vest. Zipping shows that off best. Good color.

The vest is great on you, Donna. I love the color and the style on you, and that necklace goes nicely with its modern vibe, too. I think the fit is good. If anything, I would go down, not up, for comparison.

Thanks everyone. It sounds like it's the right amount of oversized and I can take off the tags today. I wasn't sure, but, if I want the option of wearing it closed I think the next size down might be too constricting.

Perhaps remove the necklace. Lots going on with dramatic vest and specs already.

Thank you Angie! I didn't actually wear the vest, but I see what you mean about lots going on. Was just getting approval first before removing tags! And the column of color happened accidentally, as I wanted to wear this striped shirt and was pleasantly surprised that the jeans (new) were the exact same color! yay!

Excellent choice, Donna! I like it best done up, too, but it might depend on your activity, the warmth factor, and the rest of the elements in your outfit. Great color for you!
