WIW - I shaved my legs for this?

My daughter took one look at this skirt and said, "Mama, you'll never wear that, it is SO not your style." Of course I had to prove her wrong. I love it, but I am wondering about the waistband. Between my undies and the seam, it's giving me a belly pooch! (And ooooooooh you KNOW I lost that weight and there's barely a pooch there!) Plus I shaved my legs, then decided to wear boots because it's under 90 degrees AND I CAN. So my lovely sleek legs are now hidden under lovely sleek boots. Which is actually making me terribly happy, so all is well.

I would have said the same thing as your daughter. I really like the outfit but it just doesn't seem quite you. On the other hand, maybe it is you now, since you're wearing it! How do you feel? I just gave aways a pile of similar skirts which I was never wearing because of weather and flowery-ness.

AG, I own exactly two floral skirts and I always wear them just like this. Instead of business in front and party in the back, this is tough on top and flowers in the middle.

I love it! Does it work to pull the skirt up a bit? That is one gorgeous skirt. I don't see a pooch, I do see a feminine figure- nothing wrong with that:-)

Great combo, you look very nice! You made me think of my 2nd grade teacher who used to unzip her boots during storytime and have us kids stroke her legs. Later on in life I realized she never shaved. Boots can hide a multitude of secrets.

I'm just not lovin' this on you - I think a different floral skirt could work on you, but I don't think this is the one. The color and feel is just too light and girly.

With something extremely tuff (think black leather moto), I'm thinking it could work, in an ironic way. Not to be boring about it at this point, but Giovanna (my Vogue editor stylecrush) could work a lot of crazy looks with this skirt.

It's unexpected on you, for sure, but I have to say I love it. Somehow, I'm not finding this print all that sweet (maybe that adjective is a ditsy, tiny lazy-daisy print in my head, or chintzy cabbage roses).

I really like the overall look- the dichotomy of the jacket and skirt gives a great vibe. I think you've made it your look by how you've styled it.

I'm not wild about how it looks from the side, something about where the tank hits vs the horizontal line of the skirt is a bit off.

IK, this skirt is fun, bright and it a cheering outfit. I don't see any "pouch" but I see what you mean about the silhouette. I often encountered this problem with such skirts myself. It looks to me you have a long torso, and so I wonder it you could wear the skirt a bit higher on your hips. This would "raise" your butt line and lessen the long torso impression.

Another option is to wear a longer top (or blouse, or shirt) that covers the skirt's waist band; you can then even wear a belt around your natural waist (higher) over the chosen top, again to raise the waist and re-proportion the look.

Or again you can wear it low as is but with dainty sandals such as gladiators or cute flip flop, for a more summer, "hippie" look.

In all cases, it is a great little skirt for you and I command you for stepping out of your comfort zone.

Krish, I don't think I have a long torso? This skirt is barely hanging off of my hips. Not to overshare, but my pubic bone is right under the second seam. It's interesting that this look gives that impression though!

I really like the skirt with the dark jacket and boots. I used to have a skirt that also somehow made me look like a had a tummy pooch too. I think it has to do with where the waistband of the skirt hits and how your shirt is matching up. I think you need to either wear the skirt higher on your torso or pair it with a longer shirt to cover the waistband.

IK I'm sorry! It really looks like you have a long torso to me from these pictures. It might be the angle of the photo, you know. The print is adorable and how you have styled it so fresh. Maybe my impression came from where the Petit Bateau tee ends over the band.
