I tried a couple of variations on this that were unsuccessful, but I liked how this turned out. First tried it with the space age sweater, but the bulk of it under a jacket was unappealing. Switched to sparkly tank, and then decided that the first blazer I chose (gray for a tone on tone effect) was too short with this.
So I ended up with the teal velvet blazer, and I like the color combo better than my original idea. The metallic clutch was an easy choice. Added a sentimental piece -- my mom's sword (dagger?) pin that I believe dates back to when she was in high school. I like how it echoes the silver sequins. This week is four years since we lost mom and she's been on my mind a lot.

ETA: Forgot to mention, if it's not obvious, the inspiration photo is #3. Not sure where it originated, but it ended up on my Pinterest board. It took me a little more effort to copy than I expected.
