In February while on vacation, I put together an accidental outfit with a pair of bicycle style shorts and a cotton knit sweater. I liked the outfit well enough to repeat it during that vacation.

Yesterday I stumbled on an article detailing how to style bicycle shorts in 2023. https://www.instyle.com/bike-s.....ts-7484745 High temps, humidity, and Katie Holmes’ outfit for inspiration - I decided to put together my own combo. (Worn around the house and for a quick jaunt to pick up a sushi order.)

The classic button up works perfectly combined with the biking shorts and fisherman sandals. Great casual look for the summer.

My 90's casual uniform :). Although my tops were always longer, so covering the crotch area, and with platform sandals of course ;).

I recently thrifted Navy knee length joggers NWT - Italian brand Macron, 100% cotton. I have been wearing them for morning walks and tend to stay in them for the day unless I am going to the big city. The legs are quite narrow so give off a similar vibe, although longer.

You look cute, I like them with the b/down and fisherman sandals. Interestingly my platforms back then were fisherman style too.

I see this trend in the city and love it. I would suggest a more oversized shirt, though. Also love it paired with an oversized t-shirt. And absolutely agree with Angie in regards of shoe choice - sneakers would work the best.

Update: pic #1 Similar, but different with conventional shorts and sneakers worn today.

@ Irina - wouldn’t you classify this shirt as ‘oversized’? The shoulder seams project beyond my shoulders by about 2 inches on either side?! (Pic #1 and #2) Or are you suggesting ++oversized like the jacket examples in Nikki’s photo’s?

@ indigoprint - I should have linked the Finds! It’s Eddie Bauer Horizon short. Check the site for inseam lengths and different fabrics and colours. https://www.eddiebauer.ca/p/23.....olor=Stone

I bought mine in a B&M store. TTS and waistband has stretch!

Edited to add: If you mean the second pair of bottoms, they are the discontinued Lululemon OTF cropped pant. Lulu doesn’t make the OTF line at all anymore - much to my chagrin.

Carla, I would call your shirt “relaxed”. Its length, width and popped collar give more classic or pretty vibe to me. But it’s my take on it, obviously. I’m adding a couple of pictures to illustrate, though.

I like your styling. That is probably how I would wear bike shorts. That shirt makes the outfit look crisp and appropriate for running around town and the sandals look great.

Actually I wear bike shorts to do yoga in the summer and have 2 black pairs and a rainbow tie dyed pair, so when the trend arrives on our door I think I'll use your inspiration and wear a white or denim shirt it for my post-yoga coffee
