With the summer ending... when do you start wearing your boots?

How much does the temperatures have to drop for you Ladies to bust the boots out? As much as I like the look of the boots with shorts, I'd be reluctant to mix summer/winter like that.. Even though I saw and admired the look on others. I think I'm comfortable wearing boots in October (September is still 'summery' to me), once it drops below 70's and the air is brisk and leaves start changing colors... I'm on the East Coast by the way. How is it for Others?

You nailed it: as soon as the air feels crisp, boots seem right again.

September here is often pretty steamy, so probably October.

When it gets cold. In September we hope to have a late summer, somewhere in October/November the weather will change and it is time to pull the boots out.

September is always our hottest month here in CA. My boots will probably make their seasonal debut sometime in October... but i won't be wearing boots on a daily basis until well into November most likely.

I have great dificulty when to start wearing boots. I tend to make it at the last possible moment wich leaves out some cool outfits that I might be wearing but don't.
I try to start wearing them by October and that is only because I'm on Canada and the weather alows it. In Portugal it would be something for November, maybe.

Whenever it's comfortable to do so. Here in FL that may be 70 degrees. In Tahoe probably not until 50 or so. It's all relative . . . but for me As Soon As Possible this year!! Can't wait to break out my cognac boots that have waited patiently since Feb. to debut!

I'm retiring my sandals and breaking out the boots on September 1. I'm sure it will still be 90 degrees here in Atlanta but I don't care. The weather doesn't really get cold here until November and I don't want to wait that long.

I swap to my autumn winter shoes (darker in colours and 1 is a higher vamp) at the beginning of September. When my feet get tooo cold in shoes I break out the boots this is usually at the end of October x

We only JUST got out of our boots. 68 degrees and below and it's boot weather. Often you can wear boots at night because it cools down a lot.

Oh gosh, not for months for me. Probably not until late November or December here. We have summer almost right up until winter. We are in triple digits all this week.

I confess I like the Hollywood starlet hits the pavement look with the long ago juicy couture tracksuits and the Uggs. Yes, I love Uggs. And never owned any, just a knockoff and they weren't nearly Uggly enough to suit me. By extension, I have worn ankle boots all summer and not the first summer, either. Strangely, I don't understand the sandals that are bare
except for looking like ankle gloves.

As for breaking out knee boots, I have worn a faux suede perfed camel pair already and we've had a real hot summer. Otherwise, I look for a combination of how the air feels and days when the light is grayer or different.

I'm on team always cold feet and live in NJ. I wear boots under boot cut jeans year round in a/c conditions. I wear: browns, taupes, fawn, and other lighter colors in the summer months. The black one's I wear under bootcut jeans in the summer on rainy days. My cowboy boots are great for warmer weather.

I break out tall boots tucked into skinnies on cooler days (75 or less) starting Sept 1 regardless of color. I keep the hose sheer or printed, or a bare leg. By October I'm favoring opaque hose.

As soon as I possibly can! Which isn't very soon. The high is 107 with thunderstorms today (so it will be hot AND humid). Ugh. But the extended forecast says we have a couple days with predicted highs in the 80s about two weeks away! I'm THRILLED!

I'll probably start wearing my booties again once highs are in the 80s, and bring out the taller boots once highs are in the 70s. If I waited for highs in the 60s I would only be able to wear my boots in January and February

What Angie said! Below 68ish and boots are fair game. With the cool summer we've had I haven't really stopped wearing them, but my knee high boots haven't been worn since spring. I wore a mid-calf slouchy pair last week, actually And I have a light colored pair that I wear almost exclusively in spring/summer.

I start wearing boots to work when the temperature gets below 70 degrees. Here, in the fall, it gets cooler at night before the daytime highs really start dropping, so I'll also pull out boots on cooler evenings even if it's still above 70 during the day.

Sometimes people just have to wear weather-appropriate clothes for their internal weather: they are generally too hot or too cold. And they've already learned to deal with inquiring glances or teasing.

Otherwise, I think a good rule of thumb is to wear the boots when you
intuit that people won't think you don't know who the president is, either
and won't worry that you will appear without your pants next. IOW, if it's
not so outrageous a choice that people will fear you're demented.

68F is 20 Celcius? That is summer, no way am I going to wear boots in that nice a temperature! My feet won't be happy. I don't know an exact number, but somewhere around 12 Celcius makes more sense to me. That is about 54 F

Late November for me. When there is a chance of snow and my feet are frosty in shoes.

I have sheepskin lining in my boots though so it has to be cold enough for that...

Isabella, we've had such a wet, overcast summer that I barely stopped wearing them before I started again! Which, to me, is the silver lining on a bad summer :).

Once it's anywhere below 70F we immediately pop out the boots. Here winter starts in November and continues to about April. If you don't have them out by the middle of October then your dead

As soon as a few leaves start falling, making that wonderful papery sound underfoot, I bring out the boots. I've been wearing mine for about a week now.

It is a temperature thing for me. The temperatures have to be cool enough so that my feet won't overheat. September was way too hot for me to wear boots. October is half over and I still haven't worn them. Perhaps November or December?

I should mention that I avoid wearing anything hot or heavy on my feet for as long as possible. Boots are hot and heavy in my mind.

My feet are always cold, so I start wearing my boots sooner than other people do. I wore them this week, as a matter of fact, and our temps haven't been low to speak of. It's just a little cooler than Summer.

Mid-September usually -- whenever the mornings start to get crisp. I live in Michigan, so wear boots 7-8 months of the year.
