Thanks Rose.
Shiny- I guess we will have to wait and talk to the doctor about it. He was in a bit of a rush when we saw him after the test.

Khris, I'm glad to hear that the testing is over with and that she was negative for some of the big issues. At least you have some answers and can narrow down the list of possibilities.

I also had severe acid reflux for a couple of years - had an endoscopy and all. I took nexium for about 3-4 months which cleared everything up and by being careful when I see the signs of trouble since then, I have never had another really bad flare up (well except during pregnancy). I think of all the things that it could have been, acid reflux might be the easiest to deal with - they even give PPIs to babies nowadays!

Oh, and about the coughing. My doctor always told me it was asthma - turns out it was acid reflux!

Khris, it must be a huge relief getting past it! Good to hear that it's manageable and hopefully can be resolved.

I also took some medication and it got rid of the problem and it has never returned. Every so often I need some Tums, but nothing like before.

I hope the doctor gave you and your daughter some diet advice like avoid spicy foods, really fatty foods, etc. I hope this is not an unwanted suggestion, but you might consider taking your daughter to an acupuncturist or Chinese herbalist to discuss diet and perhaps some herbal formulas. I know people are often skeptical, but this medicine has been practiced for thousands of years and can really help get to the root of many issues.
