Winter shoe / boot wardrobe planning

This is a bit boring for you Northern Hemisphere peeps who are ogling summer sandals but I would love your input to my winter shoe / dilemmas :-).

I have a pair of taupe knee high boots that I have given a workout the last 2 winters and I would like to add a pair of knee high flat black boots this year. I had a look at Angie's picks for narrow calved women and I love the Stuart Weitzman Setaside however I can't find it on sale in my size and I can't do full price. I found some suede options that I quite like but what do you think of them for everyday MOTG wear? We don't have snow issues. Just a bit of rain.

The Setaside is a much better option isn't it? What narrow calved black boots have you loved this winter?

Dilemma 2: Such 1st world problems! I would also like to add a pair of black booties this year. I love Angie's pick, the Stuart Weitzman Manlow and it is on a REALLY good sale at the moment.

However, I would predominantly want to wear them with dresses and skirts and I have read some reviews saying they are a bit too wide in the ankle for narrow calved girls to wear with dresses and skirts. Do you have these? Have you tried them? What do you think? I would really really like them to work but it sounds like I probably need to keep searching?

I think that would pretty much cover me for winter. That would be 5 pairs:
1) Taupe knee high flat boots.
2) Black knee high flat boots.
3) Black ankle boots.
4) Slip on sneakers.
5) Suede heeled booties with lizard trim for dressier occasions (something like the shape of the bootie in the attached pic)

Do you see any gaps? What did / does your winter shoe & boot wardrobe consist of? What did you live in and love?

Hi, An! I am reviewing my autumn/winter shoes too!

I find that 'gaps/holes' in my shoe wardrobe are usually found as I venture further out of my comfort zone and try new things!

Sorry, I can't give any advice about the SW boots you have mentioned. I hope other forum members can help with specifics!

You did your research alright. Living in the Midwest Chicago the seataside would be the best everyday option. The slip on sneakers are really fun.

I don't care for the fabric in the back of the first ones. I have some flat riding type boots from ivanka trump and I love the. I have black and brown and I have narrow calves but they are tall so if you have short legs they may not work for you.

I tried the Manlow in 2 sizes because I loved the heel height and buckle. I liked how they were just a tad moto- ish and thought that would be a nice option. I would have worn with skirts and black tights and under trousers.
I found the ankle fit too gappy for skirts, for my poison eye, and also some of the pants I would wear " hung up" on them. ( see my comment on alaskagirl's post. ) my Munro ankle boots are closer and so the SW were not an improvement and actually had less cushioning.

I returned them, because I could tell they would not fill this wardrobe hole for me. I did like the look overall, and was sorry they were not " the one".

Thanks Unfrumped for your opinion on the Manlow's. They are a gorgeous boot and I would so much like them to be the perfect bootie for me but I can see that I would be disappointed with the gapping around the ankle. I went back and read some other forum comments on the Manlow's and see that April had the same problem. And I would definitely want them to work with skirts and dresses. Next!

Golden, thanks for the heads up on the Ivanka Trump boots. I'm not tall so they may be too tall for me, I would need to try.

Those Stuart Weitzman boots are gorgeous but spendy, as you say. In the interest of fitting your narrow calf but finding something more in budget, have you tried Duo boots? Not a ton of selection but I got a pair of tall black plain flat boots there last year for my opposite problem - wide calf. I love them and find them to be a wardrobe workhorse. I got the Beech style.

I have a pair of Sam Edelman taupe suede booties that I only wear in the fairest of weather. I find suede so comfortable but so picky!

That Dolce Vita slip on sneaker is fab. I decided to try the style with something a little cheaper. Gap has a bunch of these slip on sneakers right now.
