Hoping to get inspired enough to wear something more than sweatpants, I’ve been planning my winter wardrobe.

Same as last year, I decided to concentrate my efforts and $$$ on outwear, boots and accessories. I also edited my closet and put up for sale or sold the rejected items.

Photo #1. My collection of winter outwear. The long green puffer is new and not as green, more like milky teal. 2 puffer jackets- teal one is an old, poly filled jacket but I keep it because of the color. The second jacket is not a best cut for me but I love the colors and it’s reversible!
The second wool coat in dark grey knee length one, I don’t wear it now but might wear it next year again.

Photo #2. My boots collection. My ankle seems better and I hope to be able to wear my 6 years old lace up boots, they are old but in great condition. Short, fur lined boots and sock sneaker boots are new this year.

Photo #3. New accessories this year. So, my own “trend” I wanted to wear a dickie under puffers as I find scarves are too bulky for tightly zipped coats. I found 2 from COS second hand. Although in the photo they both look black, only one is. The second one and a navy wool hat IRL are the same ink color. I wore a black one already and I didn’t take it off inside but rather used it on top of a crew neck sweater as a layer for more of an architectural feeling. My DH didn’t feel the same
I also bought balaclava to wear after pool but like the style and versatility. Might look for another one. Also can be worn under a hat for a layered look. Just an idea.

My last goal was to add a bag in a complementary color but I’m having hard time deciding on a color.

#4 to 7 inspo photos. I’m so in love with grey, so #7 is my current obsession.

Last year I loved taupe and cream colors. Still like them and added cream mittens and hope to find a pair of cream jeans but grey and ink are on my mind. I mostly wear ink in the cooler months, I missed it.

Do you have any inspirations and new ideals for the winter season?

Wow, you have a fab outwear/shoes and accessory capsule here-thanx for showing it us. The inspo picties comprise great coats especially love the oversized shacket style of nr 6- architectural and trendy right now. I see the green one you already have it- FYI nr 5 is my current obsession- color and stylewise, too. My version of outwear in that color is a raincoat/parka but stylewise I have a cream maxi puffer like that which I will wear come january, when black starts to feel too dark for daytime.
Now, would you like to have one of each coats shown here or only a single one form the 2? From your obsession (nr 7) would you want a coat really that oversized as that one-or is only the color trigerring you?
Granted, a grey coat looks great with all your navies, blacks or even creams/taupes underneath. And love the teal for a non neutral bag for You.
Working in an office various shades of grey were my go to accent colors for long years (instead of bright whites) to wear with all my black neutral core items-but never had a grey coat-so interresting..:-)

I’m trying to deny that winter is on the horizon, and spending as much time out of doors as possible during the run of nice weather that we’ve been having. Mostly I’ve been wearing jeans and a solid coloured sweater, plus a puffer for out of doors.

The new black and white herringbone statement coat is bringing me some joy worn over repeat dress casual ‘fits for low key occasions, and I’m real happy my new shorter hair.

I need to get into the Big City for a proper shopping trip. Possibly find some full length wide leg warm trousers and an updated jeans silouhette.

Those sage/milky teal items are a really nice way of introducing some colour into your outfits, and I can see it working well with your neutrals. Subtle. It doesn’t clobber you over the head, IYKWIM!

Hmmm…wonder if I need a grey beanie to wear with my grey wool coat?

Lyn67, I love that shade of grey in #7 and overall style but I would not be able to carry that much heavy fabric on my petite frame. My inspirational pictures work as examples of color combinations and styling ideas. I also like a complimentary color of a bag here, too.

I’m going to try a grey turtleneck with black jeans, black boots and a green puffer like in #5. Nothing earthshaking but just a reminder to myself to throw a 3rd color.

Beautiful array of coats, footwear, and accessories! I love that murky blue-green color so much, and also love the dickies! Perhaps husband will warm up to the idea with a little more exposure :)? I am really into gray this year too, plus cream--I bought a cream denim skirt from the Uniqlo Lemaire collab and have been wearing it a lot, much to my surprise (not usually much of a skirt wearer). I am also wearing lots of blazers this F/W, which is a change too.

Nice collection of puffers to get through the winter season, the sage green will be a lovely accent to black and grey. I have never heard of a sock sneaker boots before, they look interesting and I’m guessing they’d be comfortable too. Those turtleneck dickies are a great idea, although I’d likely just wear it under a pullover avoiding the hassle of layering 2 tops.

Oddly I haven’t given much thought to updating my winter wardrobe. I did add a couple of turtlenecks - a black & white striped one and a mock turtleneck in a heather blue, I plan to use them to experiment more with layering under pullovers and vests. I might also consider a bolder colour crossbody bag, just need to figure out the right colour then find one that suits my needs.

BTW Did you use a special app to collect your wardrobe photos ?

Yep- in winter it's all about the boots and coats! I bought at least 5 pairs of boots this year- and have been playing with them. Not inspired otherwise, my main thing has been playing with wigs and skincare

Dee, my other pair, black leather boots are sock boots.

Both pairs are extremely useful for me. After a surgery last year, I can’t wear close fitted boots.

I don’t use any special apps. I find stock photos of everything I buy and keep it in Pinterest. I have boards by a year, a wardrobe type and by colors.

I like the dickie idea! I will look forward to seeing you show us how it works (if DH can bear it.) Love the greenish/ tealish coats -- and that green bag could be amazing, but I also understand the appeal of grey. The only thing for me is that it tends to get me down mid-winter when buildings, sky, and all else are also grey. (In my case, including my hair). But it's very versatile and can work with all your neutrals, so...

Tibi has a hooded dickie that I love but can’t quite justify. I like that the ones you shared are not the old dickies that look weird without anything over them — they’re almost like a vest of sorts. That I can get behind!

I’m mostly by trying to wear my fun items since we are in my favorite seasons for dressing (layers! boots! Jackets!). However, I’m inspired by juxtaposition of a dressy element in an otherwise casual outfit (ie, my new plaid wide leg trousers with sneakers, tee and casual jacket). I’m also dipping a toe more into playing with proportion in a way that’s not necessarily conventionally figure flattering. Big oversized toppers are still looking interesting to me and are really practical as the weather cools, as they are good for layering.

I’m also inspired by the new influx of jewel tones at retail, and the textural interest of velvet, corduroy, etc. I’m shopping my closet for some of these things, trying new combinations, but also have gotten a few new items while the color trends are favoring me.

So organised and well thought through! I love the structured green bag, it would be a very nice highlight for winter and the roll neck bib would fit really well with your current wardrobe! I can see that the balaclava is having a revival but I am not sure how this piece would translate to daily wear, I am curious!

This is a wonderful and very well thought out collection! I love the idea of "milky teal." And I love photo #7 too, the gray is great with the green bag. Maybe that's the color for your bag? It would be a great pop against the neutral outerwear, and a really nice tonal mix with the green coats...

Beautiful items! I wonder why you aren't wearing the wool coat? I also tend to wear my puffers more than wool but not sure why. Easier I guess. Love the inspiration photos, I can see them fitting right into your closet.

Minaminu, I wore balaclava in the 90s and I wear it the same now daily on my way back from a pool. When I have time, I’ll take a few photos and post it.

RobinF, I wear my black wool coat, although not a lot, the weather must be just right for it. I don’t want to wear my second wool coat, I’m not in a mood for above the knee coats at the moment.
