Winter Outfit Formulas - Ideas Please

All you lovely people, I need your thinking caps on! I am stuck in a little
rut of wearing jeans, knit tops or jumpers with ballet flats for my winter
uniform. I need some ideas for other outfit combo's to stop me feeling bored. I
am not sure of what my "fashion persona" is, I am guessing something like modern classic with a twist perhaps?

I don't do dresses for winter and I am not too
keen on skirts though if the right option came up I might be swayed. This is only for weekened wear as I have a work uniform during the week, so no heels. Fire away!

My A-1 go to formulas are:
Oxfords, Jeans, button down shirt, blazer
Knee boots, skinnys, button down short, interesting scarf

Love rachy's idea too!

Mariner t-shirts and skinnies are my uniform when all else fails. That said, I would suggest that you use the commute to work as your 'catwalk' and commute on style until you transition into your uniform.

This is just for weekend casual wear, correct?

Are all your jeans the same silhouette? If so, try some with a different kind of cut.

Are all your jeans the same colour? If so...try a coloured jean.

How about a pair of ponte pants? Or a pair of slouchy trousers in one of your neutrals?

I would add a topper (blazer or other); it immediately makes you feel more finished!

Change up the footwear style -- low heeled boots or booties.

Add a colourful scarf.

GAP's Really Skinny Pants + Equipment-style shirt + 'boyfriend' cardigan + moto-style ankle boots - trench or wool winter coat over top.
Ellen Tracy ponte pencil skirt + Vince Camuto peasant style blouse, leather moto jacket + charcoal tights, tall riding boots + large (and warm) scarf looped around neck in Angie's "messy scarf" style
GAP Really Skinny Pants + plaid shirt + high/low slouchy sweater (jumper) over top, tall riding boots. Messy scarf if needed (as outerwear), plus trench or wool winter coat
Skinny pants of any kind + denim shirt worn untucked + sweater vest atop the denim shirt + tall or ankle boots
Boyfriend jeans + silky button down shirt (any collared blouse or shirt will work), + cream/ivory "fisherman" style chunky sweater + pearl stud earrings + ankle boots (bit if a juxtaposition there, but I like it)
Pinstripe or herringbone straight cut dress pants + denim shirt + moto jacket + ankle boots or oxford shoes

I can't wait until it's fall!

Meanwhile, I think what can happen is a bit of a jeans rut. I know this drives me nuts if repeated too often - the old jeans, sweater (jumper!) and boots deal. Pants in any other fabrication than denim will go a long way toward livening things up. Dress pants can be casual too - just add a denim shirt or chunky sweater.

Rachylou - I like the sound of Patterned jeans, so much in
fact I went shopping after work yesterday and found a grey polka dot pair. Still
in my neutral comfort zone but a little but more fun with the polka dots. I've added a pic of them, yet to try them on so hope they fit ok!

Sarah A - Oxfords are something that have been on my mind,
I have seen this cute pair of taupe oxfords in the pic below. I am almost ready
to pull the trigger thanks to your suggestion.

Runcarla - funny you should say that, that's already what I
wear and I do feel great in that uniform I think I just need a little change
sometimes.

Suz - some great suggestions there, really made me have a
good think. I do have 1 pair of coral colored jeans which I think need to come
out of hiding. Slouchy trousers is also something I'm considering, but the fit
has to be just right.

Velvetychocolate - Some great options there, thanks for
putting so much thought into it. I like your idea about the juxtaposition of the
boyfriend jeans with silk shirt, wool jumper and pearl earrings. I think it's
details like this that make an outfit interesting.
