Hi Fabbers! DD's high school graduation is Friday. I'm shopping the closet for the most part but am struggling with dressier shoes with the light cropped flares (pics 1-2.) Do I need an ankle strap? Not sure I'm going to wear either of these pairs but if I do, do you have a preference? Right now, I'm leaning toward purchasing the lower heel ankle strap bootie that Angie has in the finds (if they are comfortable.) I feel like I should wear something a little fancier than my default casual sandals (pic 3.) Thanks for looking!

I admit my eye hasn't adjusted to cropped flares yet.1 & 2 sandals are nice, but not special. I'd love to see how the peep toe bootie would look with them. Seems like the crops need a more important shoe than the pair you are wearing in the photo. And yes, I agree with being a bit dressier, but comfort is key, especially if it is a warm day.

Actually I like both of those shoes with your cropped white pants. I think the cognac ones would look a little more casual, because of the colour....but it all depends on what top you are going to wear. Is this an outdoor ceremony?

And please tell me that grass in your backyard is not real. Or that someone in your family is a landscaper. That is probably the greenest grass I have ever seen outside of a golf course

@MsMaven: I like your "important" shoe observation. I was kind of thinking along the same lines. I thought low contrast might be the way to go but I was unimpressed with the overall look. Black looked too high contrast. Will have to keep trying.
@lisa: Yes, the grass is fake! We had turf put in this spring and I love it. It's so perfect The ceremony is out doors and on lawn--so my Okalas are a no go. I was actually planning to wear this exact outfit if I can just figure out the footwear.

I agree with lisa that it depends on your top, but I like both pairs and think the cognac are lovely, too!!

Thanks, Marble, Robin and Aida! The brown peep toe VCs are on the way--DD picked them up for me at the mall. If they don't work or are uncomfortable, I'll go with the cage sandals. Neither of the higher heeled sandals shown are very comfortable but will be fine for three hours or so. Thanks so much for your help!

@Aida! Thank you. DD is very excited to be done with high school. She's off to southern california in the fall

I really like outfit number 2 and 3 and think the three main components work together very well and are flattering.
I like the top and pants together in 1 but the shoe is too attention grabbing with it's extreme detailing and the high ankle and enclosed foot doesn't flatter your ankles or lengthen your legs as well as 2 and 3.
I actually love 2 and 3 and think you look fantastic.

Thanks, Isabel. I see what you mean about the detailing on the cage sandals. They are a little bit busy--never really noticed that before. I've only worn them maybe three times. They were an expensive mistake--comfortable in the store--not so comfortable for all day on my feet. They are really my sitting shoes.

I really like that brown top. Love the shoes in #3 but I think you should go fancy. Yes, those sandal booties in Finds look good. I would also another accessory for extra dressiness.

The crop flares look fantastic on you. Congratulations to DD! I like all your shoes here but am a shoe enabler so no help.

I really prefer the "bare leg" look with the crops (picture 2) because of the clean line it creates, but the sandals on picture 3 work well too.
I might be somewhat biased toward the "booties with crops" look; I'm not even sure why. They often look really nice together on pictures, but given a choice, I always seem to prefer another option.

I keep going back to #2, it looks quietly confident to me. #1 and #3 give off a casual air to me.

I like 2 also because my eye has not adjusted. The shoes are lovely with the white. It take me about a year to catch on to a trend them I'm late and it's over!

I think there were 3 pairs of shoes right? I like both tops but think the last pair of shoes weren't as formal as the first two. In saying that all three outfits looked great.

Tough one... I really like your default sandals in #3. They go with your hair. Also if the graduation is going to be outdoors on the grass, flats are practical. How do they look with the cropped flares?

Have you considered wearing a dress or skirt instead? For DD's graduation recently, I was going to wear a dress, but the day turned out to be cold and wet with light rain, so I wound up wearing a pants suit with raincoat over it. Cute flat pointy toed shoes... but my feet froze anyway...

First of all, congrats to your daughter! I like both #1 and #2, the white crops look amazing on you. I have a slight preference for #2 as those sandals look less busy. I think that those VC booties would look lovely to, so it is only a matter of personal preference.

All these outfits are lovely, Kelly. I like #3 best but it's too casual. I like #1 next - but am wondering if that's too casual? I haven't been to a high school graduation in the US, but perhaps you can wear a dress?
