WIMB: Guess Which Tan Sneaks I Picked for Fall

When I first received the UGG tan suede sneakers I thought they were good. They were soft, comfortable and the right color. But I was still on the fence so I ordered the Born Sheenas to try for comparison after Diana mentioned them in another post.

At first glance I thought the Borns were "too bowling shoe" looking or something. Anyway, when I put one on, oh my how comfortable they were. Fit like a glove. But I still hesitated due to the style. The high constrast of the laces against the almost cognac color maybe seemed too much to me.

So today - a gloomy rainy day (which we desperately need here and appreciate) I did a little comparison of the two and instantly knew which ones were right for me.

Can you guess which ones?

Bonus shot of the rainstorm from the night before last. We got 2.5 inches of much needed rain. I love the colors in the clouds when a cold front pushes a storm down our way.

I actually like the look of the high contrast laces with your outfits...it ties the look together for me.

The Born ones. My, what a difference! I loved the stock pics of the Uggs but the Borns look so much better on. The contrast of the laces and the color of the cognac are so striking together. I hope I am seeing what you see!

I chose the Borns by a wide margin. It wasn't just the laces but the overall "look" of the shoe read more "feminine" to me and that is something I wanted. I love that they look slightly more polished, that they are smooth leather (probably better for wet fall weather) and the comfort level was great. Funny thing too is that they made my feet look smaller somehow -the UGGS seem to do the opposite. Not that I care that much about foot size, but I noticed.

I thought of trying the white laces with the UGGS, but you know, for the comfort, price and look of the Borns it just wasn't worth the effort.

Borns for the win! I love them on you. (What a gorgeous photo, too -- beautiful sky).

Also, you can easily switch out the laces for tan ones on the Borns if you decide you want that look for a change. That's the cool thing about laces.

So glad you like the Borns! I love my blue ones, even wearing them in the Maryland summer (as long as it's not too hot).

IKWYM about the color being a bit dark, but maybe that will help you feel like fall has come in Sept. when the Texas temps are still so hot...

suzyq, kellygirl, kkards, suz - I loved the contrast too once I tried them on with a couple of outfits. In fact, if felt like contrast was suddenly desperately needed on the other ones.

rachylou - I *thought* I loved the tan laces too at first, but then when I tried them on with the same outfits I changed my mind. I could still try different laces in the Borns for a change up.

Texstyle, I love those Born shoes on you. As much as I like suede, for some reason the leather shoe is more appealing - to me at least I think you're right about them being more feminine.

Thanks pil! Now I just want to find a taupe/gray pair of oxfords that are just as comfortable and I think I'll be set for fall/winter.

I'm so glad you went with the Borns. I just prefer the overall shape and vibe. Plus I rather like the contrasting laces.

Anne likes red - was it you who recommended them to me? I thought it was Diana but I'm sorry if I was mistaken. Maybe you both did! The blue is great too - I had a hard time deciding which color but opted to try and do something that book ended my hair. I wear so much navy/blue so these will also provide a little contrast and they go with leopard (I have a shirt and a belt) and the thread in my cream BFs. And yes, come September when we're still looking at high 90's I'll certainly be wanting to at least dress more fall like.

Astrid, Diane - I had a feeling most here on YLF would be glad I went with the Borns. It's still funny to me what a shocking different vibe the two shoes had.

Glad you went with the Borns! They will also look better with shorts than the Uggs if you ever need to have covered and protected feet while wearing shorts.
