Will you be buying a pair of flatforms this spring?

My favorite new word is flatforms (flat + platforms). I like to think of it as the "jeggings/leans" of the new spring season.

Anyway, I have been nosing around for a pair. I've found this Kork Ease style and think they might be worth a try. Has anyone else spotted a great pair?

Yes! This is one of my favorite styles of summer sandal. I do already have a couple of pairs.

I actually already own a pair that I bought last year (for once ahead of the curve). They are a different brand but very similar to Kork-Ease, with even more of a flat platform. Yay!

I was totally going to make a post about this! I love the look of the higher ones that still have a flat shape. They remind me of geisha shoes and I love geishas! I'm not sure if I'll buy a pair or not though, maybe if I happen to stumble across a pair I love in my price point...

I really like platforms. i think the platform sandals you have posted are lovely.

I bought a pair of Steve Madden platform/wedge sandals last year. They are similar to these but without the studs and they are all leather.

I had a pair very similar to the kork-ease until just a couple of years ago. I never did truly figure out how to wear them.

I pined for a pair almost identical to the Kork Ease ones when I was eleven. They were the only thing I wanted for my birthday that year:)

I'm giving them a pass this time, though.

I had to resurrect this thread... was away from home when it started and without my computer. Just took these bronze beauties out of my "time out" box and polished them up. I bought them at a shop just inside Lucca's medieval walls on holiday in '98. I think I paid the equivalent of about us$105 or 110. Proof that a beautiful pair of italian leather shoes can be a thing of beauty forever. Can't wait to wear them again in fairer weather than what we have currently going on outside. L.

Not sure! I bought a pair last spring - they were strappy red - very fun - but inspite of the cuteness factor, they were awkward for me to walk in so they went to my local thrift store. Maybe I'll have to give it another try?

Same style, but without the perforated design, and in olive green. They're completely unlike anything else I own, but they were very comfy and I thought they would work well with jeans for summer. Not sure if I could pull off that high ankle with a skirt -- it might be too leg-shortening, although with the length of my legs, sometimes it's not a problem. Haven't tried them on with any outfits yet, but the weather's getting warmer, so... soon!

I was in Lucca in August of 1998, too! Did the long, walking headphone tour and loved every second of it. I bought a small oil painting in one of the coliseum shops. Would it be really obnoxious to mention that I also made the Palio in Siena that trip? Stood along the inside rail. My one and only trip to Tuscany. I can die happy.

Flatforms are really so close to Dansko's usual style, which I found super comfy. I like the combo of being taller while walking as if you were in flats. I had Danskos like these:

Count me in as a visitor to Lucca in August, though in 1997!

Janet, I have those very sandals, in black! They are certainly not "flatforms" but they are comfy and so cool! I'm going to wear mine with pants, shorter pants/clamdiggers, skirts, dresses, leggings...everything really.

ETA: re. the walking awkward thing that you mention, Marley: I find these sorts of shoes to be very comfortable and walkable, but I think the key is a flexible sole (vs. a wooden sole like a traditional clog would have).

I find the Dansko "S" series (all the styles start with S and have the same sole) the most comfy and a bit less boat-like on my feet than the regular clogs although I am limited to the styles with ankle straps.

I agree the Dansko S line is great for the "taller, but feel like you are walking in flats' look. I lived in mine all summer last year, so I guess you'll have to count me in on this trend. Not so sure I could do the heeled platforms as well.

I love platform sandals. I like having the leg lengthing effect while walking flat. I also love that I don't have to hem my pants.
