I stumbled across possibly the perfect pair of cognac boots on sale. But now I'm starting to wonder if by the time it comes around to next fall/winter if they will not be fresh and new anymore . . . any thoughts? I have light brown hair as far as the bookending possibilities.

Gawd I hope not, because I spent a fortune on mine and intend to wear them no matter what! But they are Fryes so i think they will remain a classic in any color.

They are Miz Mooz and I know they get a lot of approval around here. Just hope I can trust the only review I found that mentioned calf size - 14".

Guess this would mean the Pucci dream dress would definitely be out of the budget

Okay, that makes me feel better.

Next question: if I wear primarily blues, greens, purple and red - with bits of gray and brown now and again - would I be better off with gray or cognac boots? I figure black would work with either boot color selection so I left it out of the equation, but I do find I'm wearing more black now than I have in a long time.

I'm so scared of taking the plunge only to find I can't work them into my wardrobe!!

The foldover boot/bootie trend started this season and in that sense, people can identify that they date from a certain period. But I also think that the trend will continue into next season. Moreover, I have a pair of foldover booties and I love them so I will most certainly keep wearing them next year.

Bella, they also extend and I think I'll likely wear them up more than folded down so hopefully that's not a big issue. Good thinking, though. Essentially I have almost OTK boots and foldover booties in one! Wheee.

I know Sal from Already Pretty tried these - the only reason I didn't get them was the heel height. They are lovely!

Yes, I considered these also, but the shaft is far too tall for me when unfolded. I think the cognac will look great with your hair no matter what the "trend" is. Looking great in a flattering color is always in style!

ETA: I also felt a little silly buying boots right before summer, but everyone convinced me it's worth it if you get something you need for a great deal. I hope you love them!

Rae, your wonder boots in grey had me thinking of the foldover style to begin with! I actually think these might hit midknee on me (hence the almost OTK reference) when unfolded. I'm thinking I could also cuff them a few inches, pirate style, and see how that works. If all else fails, I can return them!!

Cognac has been holding strong for several seasons at least, from what I've noticed. I don't think the color is going to look dated any time soon.

I would definitely recommend browsing the archives at AlreadyPretty, since Sal has shown a variety of outfits with her own pair.

I don't think they will look dated at all, and agree with everyone about the beautiful bookending you'll be able to accomplish! (and doesn't your BF know a *great deal* on boots when he sees it?! Man, you can't pass these up!)

I don't think about this color as trendy. It is neutral and looks pretty classic to me. Bookending your hair is also a bonus. And having 2 boots in one - boy, who can resist that!

Oh I sure hope they don't look dated! I just got some Miz Mooz medium brown and have some more cognac shoes. I think this color will look great with your hair, so get!
To address the cognac or gray question: I have a pair of gray oxford booties and a pair of cognac wedges and I find that I like purple and green with either BUT I can wear the gray shoes with medium blue shade denim only -- for darker washes I go with the cognac. Overall I would say the cognac is more versatile.

I think they are great; love the rubber sole and heel cover so you won't be overly loud walking in them.

Zoe, thanks for the input on gray vs cognac. I always second guess a big purchase where I have color choices. I hope I made the right one. My reasoning was that I already have black and they could bat wherever gray would.

Ah, Denise, that was just one of a few pages with the boot for pics. I got them at Amazon (for even cheaper!). And they have four color options - I was seriously lusting after the red but knew they weren't versatile enough.

Scarlet, I hope by the time the slow super saver shipping gets them here I will be able to slip them on at least, if not yet walk around the house all day in them

I purchased gray boots in the beginning of the season and cognac boots mid way through. Both have been versatile and I plan to wear them no matter what the trend is. I actually think my gray boots are more trendy than the cognac one's. For outfits, I wear a lot of purples, grays and blues and find either color works well for footwear. I pretty much wear the same outfits and swap the boots. Nice choice!

Well, it's good that I jumped when I did - the price is up $26 more dollars today! I wonder if there are certain days of the week that are cheaper shopping online, kind of like airline reservations on Wednesdays. Hmmmm . . . .
