Will a lantern skirt shape work on a pear shape? Update- yes!

I've been eyeing the washable stretch crepe lantern midi skirt from eileen fisher... but i have a small waist and large hips.

Any thoughts on whether this shape is good for a pear shaped woman??

I am trying to be more thoughtful before purchasing online.... since i end up returning about 95% of what i buy!!

From the picture it looks like it has a mostly A-line shape and as another pear shaped person, I would be willing to give it a try.

That’s a pretty gentle and not extreme version of a lantern shape. As someone who is a bit pear-ish myself, I’d think this could be pretty flattering, if the fit is really good on the waist and hip — it seems to flow out from there in a way that could work nicely.

Hi - thought I'd let you know my thoughts since I own this skirt. I tried it on in store and passed at full price, but I thought it would be a good skirt for travel in cooler weather (ie not over 100 degrees as I'm currently having). When it went on a big sale last month, I purchased it.

I have a different shape than yours. I'd call myself an IT with apple tendencies, and taller. As Janet says, the skirt is not a dramatic lantern, which may help it to work for many.

I machine washed it just yesterday. It says you can machine wash or dry clean. I hang almost everything, but when I went to hang it up, it reached to nearly my ankles. So I threw it in the dryer for a bit and let it hang dry the rest of the way. That's a long way of saying, I am not sure how tall you are, but if you are petite this may be longer than midi on you. Dry cleaning might keep it shorter, but that would defeat the "washable" that's important to me.

Do you already wear this brand? As a 5’5” pear, I find it completely overwhelming. I don’t usually don’t suggest only tall people can wear something but….
