I’ve been considering adding a faux jumpsuit to my wardrobe and bought the matching set below last weekend. Instead of my usual rant, cause I have some pros and cons, I’m just going to ask you: does it work worn together or is it too much?
Tried with three pairs of shoes, I like the white sneakers best. I think white booties or blush footwear of some sorts would work best here (been meaning to add both for some time now). Votes on footwear?

Oh, sweet Liesbeth, I'm going to be a party pooper and vote no. I'm not sure why, but that is my immediate response. Maybe the pattern is to big? Could it be the proportions that are off? Are the colours too bold and harsh? This is way beyond your usual style moniker, 40s tomboy, which I dig! This is more 70s retro. Maybe this is an acquired taste, and I am way over the hill with being negative? Interested in hearing others take on this! What are your own thoughts?

It's bold, but I love it on you. The fit looks excellent. Looks great with the white sneakers.

I’m a yes. I think it looks great! That said, it is a departure from your usual style - so you have to love it. I think the silhouette is actually quite 4Os influenced but the pattern makes it modern. Are you ok with such a bold pattern?

I like the second pair of shoes the best. Personally I like wide leg pants to be floor scraping and the heel on the black shoes makes the pants look shorter and less elegant to my eye. I think it would look great in summer with an open toed flat (or slightly platform-ish) pair of metallic sandals.

Synne, thanks for your honest opinion. I’m going back and forth with this one. I took it off the rack because I kinda liked the bold print and swooshie fabric. When I tried it on, I thought it looked like pyamas. My friend did like them and so convinced me to look at the outfit with different eyes. I do think this style is an acquired taste, or at least for me. And they are pretty far removed from my moniker. Except that I also have a rebellious streak that manifests itself mainly in adopting fringe trends. You say seventies, I’m reminded of my mom’s outfits in the early nineties with large patterns and roomy silhouettes. I hated those then :-D. So yeah, I don’t know.
It was a cheap ensemble on discount that would serve a specific purpose: trouser based party (family gathering) attire. Would make a statement without accessories. Then again, should I return them I can use the budget for a much needed creme topper or another spring scarf...

Brooklyn: the pattern is the hardest to get used to. See also my previous comment. But I kinda like the drama too. Your shoe suggestion sounds great.

I'm not sure about the pattern placement on the pants-because the flowers are directly next to each other. I like how they're diagonally placed on the top though.
Agreeing that the white shoes are better due to the length of pants.

I like it but would prefer different shoes I think. Maybe more delicate like pointy toes or sandals? It is a great print and looks like a good fit.

The 70s referenced the 40s, so I think it all fits together, style moniker-wise.

My immediate reaction was that it looked too big. Can you size down in the top?

I do think it needs more refined footwear, possibly with some height — like wedge espadrilles/sandals (more 70s) or t-strap heels (more 40s).

I applaud you for trying something new and expanding your comfort zone! Something I could stand to do more of myself. :-p

Robin F took the words right out of my mouth—I LOVE it but with different shoes, something either more delicate, or if you want a clunky shoe, something maybe with a small platform or wedge, like Sarah D8 is suggesting?

The black shoes are too heavy, plus they make the pants too short.

If you like the pattern, I say go for it. The pattern is very bold but patterns are so subjective that I hesitate to comment on them. The fit is excellent although I would also prefer a daintier shoe.

Brooklyn wrote it before I could, and illustrated with the exact kind of image I was imagining. I'm glad you have elaborated the kind of event where you would wear it. Furthermore, I think you could actually get a ton of mileage mixing and matching the individual pieces with items you already own.

I've learned from Angie that footwear can make or break an outfit, and agree that you may need to try ALL your footwear with the bottoms in order to find what works best. I would second a low pointy toe or sandal in order to accenturate the swish of the pants, followed by sneakers.

I love the idea of a jumpsuit for you, and this one looks comfy and seems to have a great fit, but I feel that the pattern is too large--I see the pattern before I see you. You have a delicate bone structure (as do I), and I think that a smaller pattern would work better.

Glamourous 1940's movie star. All you need is a cigarette--no, no! don't start smoking. It's just that it's got that vibe.

At first glance I thought the print was a bit too much, but once 40's actress popped into my head I loved it. Like it with the sneakers.

My big question is: Where and when will you wear it? I know I've bought fun exciting outfits that were maybe worn once and then languished in the closet until I moved them on to someone else.

I love it on you! It totally looks like a jumpsuit; extra fab that you can also wear the pieces separately. Summery footwear is the way to go with the lightweight fabric.

I really like it. I posted my two separate pieces that work together as a jump suit a while back. mine is a smaller floral pattern. I too had second thoughts about it being too much worn together, but decided I would keep it. I initially just found the top that I immediately wanted, but it was featured with the matching pants so I ordered them too. Both fit well and I love the idea of wearing them separately as they pair up with enough other things in my wardrobe.

It is two pieces so it could be worn together for family gatherings (somehow seems perfect for that) and separately other times. Definitely prefer it with sneakers - and could see it with flat sandals too a la Brooklyn.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. So many yes votes confirm my growing feeling that I do want to keep this outfit and wear it very soon!
Naysayers: thank you too for your honest opinions. You are probably right about the print being too large for me and the top a little oversize too, but you made me realize that despite (or perhaps even because of) those things I'm falling a bit in love with this outfit. And considering the small pricetag, I'll give in to that feeling. It's nice to occasionally step out of the boundaries of my highly thought over wardrobe.
That being said, if it doesn't work out as a jumpsuit the separates are indeed highly remixable.

Love it with the white sneaks, the black shoes look a bit heavy to me to the floaty and dressier fabric....Maybe a dressier shoe or a toe showing sandal will work better!

My immediate reaction was a no, similar to Synne, but as I’ve looked more it has grown on me, it’s fairly much “out there” but I think it’s fun. The shoes in pics 1 and 2 look so much the same I can’t tell which are the white sneakers? But I think I like pic 1 shoes the best.
