Wild card - gold jeans???

Maybe I've just tried on so many shiny skinnies that look AWFUL that my filter is now broken, but surprisingly, I kind of like how these look. Not sure the pic does much good. The pattern is really cool. They fit well -- you'd never know it from the pic but the crotch is slightly roomy.

Am I delusional?

Trying on shiny pants can be seriously demoralizing for those of us with generous thighs. Good thing I ran today and have lots of endorphins pumping.

I am loving the shiny skinnies trend so much but have the same problem as you. Actually I have it worse, I have generous thighs with knocking knees. In your picture, the crotch does look roomy but overall fit is good. Love the pattern.

Are these the 7FAMK ones? I saw them in the Nordstrom catalog. I feel like something is off with the fit here, though it could be that you're not wearing heels. I much prefer the fit of the coated ones you just got.

I'm not loving the color of these or the crotch as mentioned. Much prefer the waxed ones. Than agian, I'm not fond of lighter colored pants in most cases.

OK, I guess I'm the odd man out, but I really LIKE these on you, esp with the cream sweater. I could see a lot of outfit possibilities with these...I don't think anything is wrong wtih the fit, that I can see.

I am so accustomed on seeing you on 10's in the figure flattery department, I mean, everything of yours fits sooo well, that I'm not so sure on these ones. Can all of the horizontal creasing be shadows from the photo?

I'm in agreement that the crotch area creases fanning out are detracting from the look. (ETA and they show up more because of the light color) You know I worship your style so want to help you keep those awesome standards.

I think the horizontal creasing is much more apparent in the photo, just like with my photos of waxed jeans yesterday -- I think the shine in the fabric makes it more pronounced.

This was perhaps more of an exercise in curiosity than anything. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be happy with the AG waxed jeans I got the other day, and I don't know if I really need another pair of "shiny" jeans, although I do think these are cool. I'm not even a gold person. But like texstyle, I'm not generally a fan of lighter colored pants on me.

Unsurprisingly, I left these in the store. But there is a very soft pair of grey, AG extremely fine-wale corduroy leggings, on sale, that I might have to go back for. Nice alternative to black ponte for casual days.

I could live with the creasing in the crotch area, but the bunching at the knees is throwing me off here.

And the color would be fabulous for evening, possibly with a roomy, deep royal purple top?

I vote nay, the lighter color and shine are drawing attention to the creases from the fit. This is why I shy away from lighter bottoms, the darker colors just hide creases better. Maybe one side up or a straight leg instead of a skinny would work better?

Sorry, Janet, I have to say I am not loving it either. Because of the folds and the colour, which seems not as flattering as others on your skin tone. Or maybe it's the picture and the top worn here that doesn't work? These would look good with heels and a longer tunic, still, not loving them enough...

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the feedback! I did not have my heart set on these at all, but I thought they were interesting enough to investigate and put up for some analysis.

Bj1111, I saw those online and was intrigued, but they're not available in anywhere near my size.

Sigh. I have made peace with my body for the most part, but I get a little dispirited in the pants department still. It's a bummer that most of these fab fabric jeans are cut very skinny (not just straight). Sizing up doesn't seem to do much, really. I don't find much extra room in sizes in my critical area (thighs) -- rather, the butt and waist just get roomier, and they are already plenty big enough at my regular size. You see why I sometimes succumb to envy of my slim-legged sisters out there!

Looks like you got great advice on the jeans. I think the fine-whale cord grey leggings sound intriguing! I have recently fallen in love with ponte knit, I would love to see how these work for you!

I have the exact problem too, Janet. I have large thighs but smallish hips and butt, so I just don't fill out the upper part often, and then the legs are painfully skin tight! I agree that sizing up just seems to make the waist and seat bigger with no change to the leg width.
