I have a question about wigs and whether or not readers of Angie's blog incorporate them into their fashion ensembles? I recently responded to a 2012 post that Angie wrote on Modern Age Appropriate Dressing. In it, I discussed how YLB helped me to transition from the world of work to retirement. And, with that transition came the recognition that my hair had begun to thin. Rather than continue to feel angst over that, I don one of my wigs from my growing collection of wigs. The styles that I choose are very age appropriate and seem to confuse my audience of friends and those who see me regularly. In part because my hair has not begun to gray, yet. What I want to emphasize is that I wear a wig an an accessory. In fact, I have been known to remove my wig in the gym if I should arrive wearing it. People get a chance to see me with and without my wig. Underneath my wig, my hair is styled in a short age appropriate hairstyle. For me, I have made wearing a wig a part of an outfit and not who I am and I feel better about my thinning hair for having done so. In a sense--I guess--wearing the wig has allowed me to take control of a naturally aging process in which I lack control.I would be interested in hearing what others have to say. Or perhaps, Angie might write one of her daily blogs on the subject.
