Wide leg crops with flats. Troubleshooting needed

My first outing today's WIW using my new wide denim crops with complete flats. Also first outing of this striped turtleneck and fake suede jacket, which I bought yesterday.

I feel like this combination is not very flattering to my short legs and fuller thighs, which I keep forgetting I have! ( it might not seem like that on Ylf, but in RL, I don't look at my legs very often.)

I like the outfit, Anne! With the lighter colored shoes, I would try nude knee-high stockings, instead of dark ones. (They keep my ankles warmer than going completely bare, while giving the bare look.)

To me it looks like you could shorten the pants by maybe 3/4 of an inch. But it may be the camera angle.

I agree with shortening the pants a bit , and maybe trying a top or jacket that hits lower on your hip / thigh ?

Firecracker, I actually meant to take the socks off when I got to work. Will do that now.
Shortening the crops is a definite possibility.
Bit disappointed the jacket length might not work, since I have just bought it.

Unless it's the camera angle, I'd wear a longer jacket or maybe try a longer shirt.

I think they look good, but do think that what firecracker says is right, in that a little shortening might make them look even better.

Well done with taking off the socks! I like the jacket too and it looks good with the stripey top.

I agree with others , a little shortening will definitely make them look much better. I did it with mine, just posted. The jacket is nice , maybe little short for this combination, but it would be different look when you make shorter the pants. Otherwise, try jacket with longer top and maybe straight leg pants.

So here it is with the top longer and no socks. Can't change the jacket at this point. I don't have a longer jacket

i actually like the jacket with the pants, but it wil create a stripping effect...i'd try a darker shirt next time, the stripping effect will be less evident...but i'd also try shortening the pants a little...

Yep, second photo looks great and shows what a difference a few tweaks can make! I agree with Firecracker too about the length, and then you've got it.

Interesting that I had the opposite reaction, that you should tuck the top! To commit to the crop top proportions of the jacket.

My first thought when I saw the original picture was that I wanted to see some ankle. Second picture without socks looks great!! I like the jacket length with these pants.

I changed into (low) heeled boots to go out this evening. I really think I'm most comfortable wearing heels on casual Friday (which is what today was). I didn't grab a picture with the boots and actually didn't take my coat off all evening either.

Tuck the top!

With a cropped jacket length like this I almost always wear my tops tucked with wide crops, whatever heel or flat I'm wearing.

I have a black wide cropped one. And it drives me crazy how to style it. I feel fab in it and then I saw pictures my husband took. From the back!
Anyway, to feel a bit more longlegged I tried tucking and showing skin. And not to much contrast between top and pants.

I like Suz's idea, and I do like the look of bare ankles much better with these flats. Nicely done!

Second is better, but why hiding your hips and waist with the untucked top? Tucking will solve the problem whjen styling with this particluar jacket, I think. Then you can pair with a long and thin no contrast BF cardi-the kind youngs are wearing with short shorts.
