Wide leg crops--for fall? What shoes?

I bought some wide leg crops, in black, this summer, and I adore them for the same reason I love a boot cut--the flare at the bottom balances my own "bottom flare" and I feel great in them. I've been wearing them with some ankle strap wedges for summer. What for fall, because the fabric is substantial enough to transition? Would my black riding boots work?

I have wondered about this as well having a few pairs of wide leg jeans myself.wedges worked well in summer but now I m unsure what would be best so I shall be interested if anybody has any suggestions.

Boots, booties, sturdy loafers, sneakers. At least, that’s what I’ll try if I buy if the pair I’m pondering go back on sale. Except the loafers as they don’t stay on my heels.

Not a silhouette I ahve tried, but I think the heavier footwear mentioned above is good to balance the visual weight. It is why Wedges work so well.

I'm a confirmed chunky footwear person - the substantialness of a thicker sole makes a better combination, to me, than thin-soled flats, especially in colder weather. And especially for a heavier autumn winter fabric like tweed, corduroy, heftier chinos or denim. I'm really liking this year's trend of hiking boots (shown here with a skirt).

This summer I've worn hi-top Nikes, similar to the pair in Finds, but with a bit more hi-top height and an extra ankle strap. For several years, I wore a heavier black leather sneaker boot, but have a yen for brown going into cooler weather.

Definitely something that needs to be tried on in person, if you've never done that combination. I am 5'7" and NOT delicate of bone. Thin soled flats look either skimpy or clown-shoeish on me.

I find it difficult to deal with the “ankle gap” which looks weird to my eye. So I prefer wide legs with a nice long-shaft boot underneath. Looks great when it works, but of course it depends on the boots and the pants— sometimes the fabric snags on boot belt buckles or embellishments. And of course boots with or without heels look different depending on the pants bagginess level.

I agree with Jessikams ,lm not a fan of a gap between boot and trousers.

My favourite shoes to wear with wide leg crops in cooler weather are the lace-up boots below. They have just enough height in the shaft to close the gap and the lacing means they fit nice and slim at the ankle. I don't love loose/slouchy boots under a wide leg.

I also do lower cut shoes, such as oxfords, and add a pair of low-contrast patterned or textured socks. A pair of high-top sneakers would be fun as well...

I think a very tall, sleek boot ( nothing bulky or chunky), like a sock boot style, but one that does not leave a gap between boot and pants. I think if the pants were not as wide, you could get away with gap showing . I have pants like this too and I have been playing around with proportions.

I actually like the small gap between pants and booties for fall...problematic for winter, lol! I think you have a wide variety of shoe choices depending on the look you're going for and your leg length. I have trouble with most heels so I wear mine with a small wedge sandal in summer or AGL flats. In fall I go with flat booties...it felt super weird the first few times I wore the combo, but at the same time it felt fresh.
