I feel like I've been shopping up a storm this year, but the numbers don't really bear that out. Perhaps it's just because everything arrives in a package on my doorstep.

This is a year-to-date report, so four months worth of purchases. So far I've added:
2 pairs of jeans - Essentials. These were both replacements for worn out pairs. Strict one-in, one-out.
1 pair athletic capris - Gear. Also one-in, one-out.  These are quick-dry bottoms for morning beach-walks. I also wear them for HIIT workouts and strength training, but not for everyday.
1 pair sandals - Duplicate essential. Though I already have this essential category covered with another pair, this pair will provide some variety for our long summers. I have fewer boots to make up for having more sandals.
Lightweight duster - Statement.  I’ve let go of a few cardigans this year, so this is a functional replacement as well as a refresher statement piece.

You've seen all of the above as I added them earlier in the year. Here's the exciting stuff.

White dressStatement. I have been saying for MONTHS that I wanted to order a white dress to celebrate a fresh start post-pandemic. My second vaccine dose is today and this lovely arrived yesterday. I might need a primer in how to wear white--I'm terrified about staining it--but I LOVE it. I'm not wearing it to get jabbed today, but I plan to debut it for our celebratory dinner out in two weeks.

Mini backpack - Potential new essential. This hasn't arrived yet, but it's a bag type I've been wanting to add for at least a year.  The need lessened with fewer outings and no theme park trips in 2020, but I've kept my eyes open, and finally stumbled on one that called out to me. It should arrive on Tuesday.  Fingers crossed it suits my needs and becomes an essential workhorse!

The last several pieces I've added...especially the wideleg jeans, sandals, and backpack have felt like they leaned pretty far on the boho side of my style spectrum, so I'm expecting to rein that in a bit with any future purchases this year.  I like to find a balance with my "edgy, easy, elegant" style statement, but there's plenty of black already in my closet to play against the earthiness.
