WIB: when friends go bad...

A good friend and I who haven't had a chance to spend time recently met at the mall - we went to Old Navy (having a sale) and F21, and here are the results. We also went to Chili's afterward for several margaritas, so I really need some sound judgment here!

1. Gear shirt and cargo sweats from Gap.

2. Quilted pleather moto and floral dress from F21. I feel like an ASOS stock photo here. I kind of love this floral, and my friend told me I had to get this jacket.

3. ON pixie pants and Paris tee and quilted vest. I think I'm going to return the Barbour - this is SO much cheaper, will fill the same hole, and has more flattering pockets. Are the pixie pants a horrible length? Is the tee unflattering?

All feedback welcome! Everything was cheap and can go back!

Love outfit #1 and #2 the dress and jacket are great.
outfit three it depends on what you want out of the outfit. I think the pant length isn't quite right not ankle pants. I think you would find them limiting and would have to roll them or wear them with boots. I like the top - it seems to be a fluid fit and a little baggie - probably would look better tucker or with skinnies if left untucked.
Outfit #4 a wonderful casual outfit. Though I will admit I kinda have the stink eye for puffy vests with short sleeves as I really don't understand. That is just me though.

Frannieb, totally agree. I would never really wear it this way - this is some alcohol induced styling. The Pixies would be worn with boots and booties but wondering if the ankle length is dumb.

I love everything except the pants in #3 - and yet - you still somehow pull them off! You are the only person I've ever met, aside from my baby sister, who manages to pull off awkward pants. And they would go from awkward to awesome if you roll them or maybe have them hemmed a little bit.

#1 is my hands-down favorite outfit

Ack great outfit number 1! I love that tee! (is it 'find'able?) They had a pair of running shorts I was considering getting just for the geometric pattern, but I don't run in shorts so...

Really like the elements of number 2 as well.

Not feeling the pixie pants as much, the length and wider leg opening feel more conservative than I associate with your style. Thumbs up on the quilted vest though, especially if you are planning to wear it more as sporty-lux and less as gear as it might not be as hardy.

I absolutely love all of the items! That first one is perfect and I can't get over the floral dress on you with the jacket - wow! I agree about the pixie pant length but I have the exact same ones in black and roll the cuffs. On this type of pant, I like to fold the hem under and then cuff it up so that it doesn't read like a contrasting cuff (with the inner fabric showing). I found these so much flattering that way than at full length. And boy are they comfy!

Wow, I like all of it. Love the floral dress -- it reminds me of the one I broke Austerity August for!

The pants are pretty much the same length as every pair of skinnies I own (just one of my many problems with pants!), including the ones I wore in today's WIW -- I just wear them with booties to mask the awkward length. Now, yours are less fitted at the ankle, so I would like to see them with booties to make sure they work that way.

The pixie pants would be for work. But I am not sure of the length or the calf fit. Do they shrink? And should they be tighter? Confused. They are comfortable so style is the only issue. Maybe I should show them with real boots that I would wear with them...

Mine are also for work. I sized up to a 12 (I usually wear an 8, or 10 on tighter styles). The 10 fit me like a glove but I really needed a looser skinny pant, so I sized up. I'm embarrassed to say that I wore them immediately without washing and the waist was really baggy but the legs fit me similarly to how yours look. I washed and dried them and haven't worn them since. I just tried them on and they did shrink, or at least tighten. I have a feeling that once they are on my body for any length of time, they will relax again. In other words they are tighter, but not too small feeling. I still like the fit, but on me, I won't be wearing shorter shirts - they reveal my "thigh bump". But from mid thigh down, they are just right!

As everybody else I like ##1 and 2 very much. The dress with the jacket is especially awesome...if you really need another black leather(ish) moto...
I vote to style the Pixie pants as you would wear them and post pictures: very often styling makes everything look different.

I like outfits 1 and 2 a lot! I'm surprised at the floral dress (wouldn't have guessed you'd pick the bold floral), but it looks super with that jacket on you. I love the Paris tee and also like the quilted vest. I'm not convinced on the pants from this photo. Like Rabbit, I think for casual wear they look a little more conservative-classic in silhouette than your usual.

It's very body con and I would never wear it without a topper or plastic surgery... But that isn't a deal killer for me as I have so many toppers for this kind of dress.

Joining the chorus to say I love all of 1 and 2 and the vest is great too. Not sure about the pants - I think the opening is too wide. If they were more tapered I wouldn't mind the length. (I think this is a common issue with slim pants these days, you wouldn't believe how many so called cigarette pants have 12" or larger ankles.)

Diana, I know - I can't find anything close to my leg in a non-jegging or legging fabrication. I almost wonder if it would be worth getting these tapered - they were so cheap.

I like all of these, but naturally the dress and jacket are hands-down my favourite - as long as they feel like 'you'. In the morning ;).

Like others, I don't care for number 3, but you already commented on that outfit so I am coming late to the party.

My reactions were the same as the others. 1&2 are winners. The black jacket gives the floral dress the Una treatment. I want to love 3 but, compared to 1, it looks off.

I am with the chorus here. Outfits #1 and #2 are totally fab. Outfit #3 is off enough that I do not like either the top or the pants (especially the pants). Perhaps styling would change my mind, but #3 is just glaring compared to the first two.

Love 1, 2 and 4. That vest looks great, but aren't they really lightweight? Maybe you're looking for indoor fashion and not outdoor function?

These are some fab purchases! I just passed by F21 the other day and thought "I wonder if they have anything good?" Well, apparently they do and I need to go back!

I am happily surprised to see you in a floral dress, and I love it on you. The jacket brings it into Una territory. #1 is also a great casual look. I've been looking for a dressy/casual pair myself but haven't found them yet. These look great on you. As for #3, I think the color is throwing me - I'm not used to seeing you in colorful trousers. If you keep these, a slight taper at the ankle is a good idea. The quilted vest in #4 is a keeper.

Una - outfits 1&2 are totally stunning!! The first is so casual cool and you are an artist with the 1/2 tuck. The floral dress is a showstopper. Fab with your coloring. You always find the best dresses!! Love the jacket but second Sveta's question of whether you "need" it although if it is not expensive and not hot you certainly wear you toppers and it looks fab on Like the cute tee in #3. Also would love to see how you are going to style the pixie pants. I guess to my eye, I would wear them with high booties for work with a jacket - I would style them and see how the length works out. Cute and fit you well as long as they work in the outfits you have in mind!!

Gah!! I just LOVE that moto! Especially over the dress. Wow. First outfit is fab too. That's an awesome long sleeved T. Might need to steal that. The cargos are great but I'm wondering if you already have that silhouette covered? But they look great. Paris T is useful. I had a F21 similar that was great for layering until I shrunk it. Not hot on the pants. I totally can't do ON pixies although many people rock them.

I love #1, and think it's a killer look on you.

#2 is really fun. I like seeing you in a floral frock, Una. A wild card. I can't judge the quality of the jacket - and don't know if it's a duplicate - but it's super cute in the photo.

I'll need a little more convincing for the items in #3. Neither here nor there.

#4 is a great item. Although the Babour version is probably warmer. Is this quilted vest appropriate for your climate? Fab on you.

Awesome-- I need a girls' day like that. Unfortunately, both of my local girlfriends are always on strict budgets, so we don't shop. Maybe when I make it to AZ.

Believe it or not Una, I like everything. I love the shirt and sweats from the first photo. I like outfit number two but the jacket might be too long to wear with a dress. Outfit 3 looks good but I think we need to see the pants paired with the shoes you'll wear them the most with to check-- right now they could go either way. I LOVE the vest in 4---- way way way better than the barbour!

Wow, these looks are all great! I think there are a few tweaks that I might suggest for outfit three. I think something that hasn't been mentioned has to do with the tee. Perhaps people are being thrown off because the sleeve design overly emphasizes your IT shape. (It could also be your pose in the photo) The color and print are excellent. I wonder if you wore the shoes/boots you plan for that outfit, and could somehow adjust the sleeves, if it would go from a good look to an excellent look?

I also want to add, that I think the color of this vest looks better than the Babour. Practicality wins out for me every time, clearly you need to decide what is most important for you.

You are so lucky to have a good friend to shop with, who gives you good feedback!

#1 without a doubt. #2 looks amazing on you, but not something I would normally think to see you in. It is good to experiment. Would the moto jacket be a duplicate of something you already have? Love the colour of the pants in #3 but awkward pants length (like others have already pointed out). Love the styling of #4' but haven't seen the Barbour. How about a side by side comparison?

Una-- cargo sweats? I can't find them on the website, they probably aren't tall, I have nowhere to wear them but home, and yet they draw me
