Carter, I love the jacket on you! It looks like a great fit. I think it looks beautiful with the dress and the jeans. The dress is pretty and the pink jacket gives it a fun pop of color. I like it buttoned and unbuttoned. I think I like it best buttoned with the dress and unbuttoned with the stripe top, but I'm no expert.

I just hope I look half as good! I can't wait for it to arrive.

I love the jacket--especially with the pants. If you wear it with the dress, I think it looks best open so you can see dress waist detail.

Congratulations on your daughter's graduation! Mine is graduating too. So amazing to believe. (I have no idea what I am going to wear. I'm quite impressed that you have a dress all ready to go.)
I love this jacket with the dress and pants. I'd love to see the sleeves scrunched with the dress though. Would that make it too casual for you? I feel like it might read a bit more celebratory and not as conservative (unless that is the vibe you want).
Just fab with the pants and sandals. Love it.

I like the dress outfit for a graduation, very nice. The pattern matching/clashing with the two-tone shoes and the prints on the dress, I dig it. (OMG run-on sentences, I'm a little over-caffeinated at the moment!)

But is the jacket a little big? It just looks loose when you're wearing it unbuttoned. I know pictures can be a little deceiving re ease.

(Were you the one with the daughter who was thinking about a master's program at Notre Dame de Namur, or was that someone else?)

That dress looks great on you. I even like it with the pumps. But somehow with the jacket and pumps, it's taking me to a business place. I'm not sure if that's what you're going for. Maybe a shorter jacket for the graduation? The dress is so fab though, and so is the blazer with slacks.

You look great in the dress, the blazer and the shoes. I think the shoes look perfect with the dress and the jacket fits beautifully. I do have a couple of minor concerns. There appears to be a wrinkle across the bust of the dress. Perhaps the dress is slightly tight in the bust, or maybe it's just the way you're standing. I also think the blazer looks better with the pants. As Liz A. mentioned, the length of the blazer gives a slightly corporate effect. That's not necessarily bad and scrunching the sleeves might change the corporate dynamic.

Not to be too critical! I love the way you look in both outfits.

I love the dress, with one tiny exception. I'm concerned that it's too tight in the bust because it seems to pull a bit. Also, I love the blazer with the pants, but I'm not crazy about it with the dress. It seems a bit long. But the color is great!

Viva, you're absolutely right...a scrunch would be good. It also has a cute lining if I roll the sleeves. Going for "cool conservative"...how's that? As in "your mom is so cool" while still looking appropriate for the event. I prefer the jacket with the pants too, but I need some type of cover for the dress, so thought I'd give it a shot.

Laura, I think that's just the picture/pulling the jacket straight out of the shopping bag effect. Sadly, not my daughter who's going for her master's. Still hoping she'll go get it one day!

Good feedback, Liz. I really wanted a pink super lightweight waterfall cardigan to wear with the dress, but I have searched high and low for one. Still looking, but if I don't find one, is the jacket ok? Maybe with sleeves scrunched/rolled, sandals instead of pumps and fun jewelry?

Thanks, retailgirl. Pink is definitely a basic in my closet! I've been pinning pink jacket outfits today, so hopefully I'll come up with tons of outfits for it.

Catnip...yep, there's a wrinkle in the dress in the picture. I can zip it all the way up by myself, but I can't get myself unzipped so I left it unzipped in the back. That's also what's causing the lumpiness on the back of the blazer in the dress shot. Totally agree that a blazer makes a dress lean corporate, but do you think it will work as a fall back if I can't find the pink waterfall cardi I would like?

Thanks, Marmee. When my husband gets home and the workers clear out for the day, I'll try the dress on zipped all the way up and try scrunching/rolling the jacket sleeves.

Absolutely please tell me if that doesn't fix the issues! I'd rather start over than not look great.

I love the pink jacket!! I have a pink wool coat about that color and shape/size and it's really been much more versatile that I thought it would be, it goes with a lot of other colors and is an instant way to add happiness to an outfit. Also if your colors are similar to mine (which I think they are) blue-ish pink works very well with my skin and dark hair.

I really like your graduation dress and I think the shoes go quite well if you don't find something you like better. Weather can vary and if the graduation is outdoors you could be contending with either broiling sun or rain (my favorite picture from college graduation is my family all lined up in bright raincoats with the hoods up covering their nice outfits and silly umbrellas holding off the downpour.) There also may be a fair amount of time walking or standing including on lawns depending on the size of the graduating class.

Also love the jacket with what you are wearing today.

Yes, it will look great. This outfit is much more than a fallback. You will look really pretty in it. A pink waterfall cardi would also look great, but the blazer is way more than OK. It's terrific. Please don't even think about returning it.

Rabbit, it is an outside event with indoor event following. I am SO hoping it's not sweltering or raining. I'm also not particularly fond of the idea of clomping through the grass in my Kate Spade shoes! Hoping to find some cheapo sandals that look good.

If anyone comes across a very lightweight pink (or any deep, bright color at this point) waterfall cardi, please let me know. It has been my late night mission for a few weeks now, but I'm still striking out. I tried it with my pink crew neck cardi and hated it.

I think it looks great on you. I also love the dress. To my eye the jacket looks much better over the pants and possibly not just because of length, but the color tone is more warm and muted in the skirt of the dress, and the jacket seems to want some clear contrast and less warm camel. May look different in different lights.
So yay do keep jacket regardless, I think you'll find lots of ways to wear it.

I really like it with the pants, as an outfit. Agree with others above that the length lends itself better to pants than the dress. However, it's pretty darn good with the dresss as well! Now, I know this post is about the jacket, not the dress, so sorry if I'm stepping over the line here... I like the dress better with the jacket than without... it's a gorgeous dress, but I don't feel the colour is the best on you, it blends too much with your colouring. But the jacket makes you shine.

Love that jacket!! What a fab addition to your closet. On a whim a few years ago, I bought a cheap H&M knit shrunken blazer in fuchsia. I didn't expect to wear it a whole lot, but I figured, what the heck, for $20, who cares?

You know what is coming next. It became a MAJOR wardrobe workhorse for three seasons. I finally passed it along to my stepdaughter because I decided to upgrade. But I haven't found my perfect replacement.

I think this looks amazing with the pants, and I like it with the dress as well. I don't see it as "too corporate" in the least for the graduation. Especially if you scrunch sleeves and play around a bit with footwear (mind you, l do love those shoes with the outfit, but simply to address your comfort concerns).

Thanks, EP. Agree that the dres does read a bit bland with my pale winter skin and no jacket. That's why I was trying to add some color. Maybe I should start over with the dress?

Thanks, Suz. Please see if the scrunched sleeves below work better. Totally open to other options, except a short blazer. I just don't wear dresses and skirts nearly enough to justify one.

Posting new pics with sleeve cuffed and scrunched/just scrunched. Also added a necklace for color without the jacket. Finally, the black waterfall sweater is my absolute favorite sweater. It's a Nick and Zoe that I've had for years. I have been trying to find something like this in a deep bright color. Is the sweater shape better than the jacket with the dress?

The dress is black and white? Oh my goodness, the joy of digital photography. I thought it was shades of beige! I take back everything I said about its colour. Black and white is NOT bland!!

love the dress - love the jacket - I must have those shoes!! I still think that jacket reads a bit long with that dress - the sweater reads as too fluid for the structured dress to my eye. I really like the dress best on it's own with the bright necklace - and perhaps some hot pink pumps!!

I loved that jacket when Fastkat posted it, and I love it on you. You absolutely must keep it!

I actually like the dress with the waterfall cardigan, but I'm looking on a 7" screen. So I'll defer to others with bigger screens and more understanding of style. In any case, it's a great sweater.
