WIB: My new red Mette Moller-dress

After getting a lot of support here form you fab ladies, I bought the red merino wool fit-and-flare dress this week. I've tried to style it with what I have on hand, and here's what I've come up with for my Holiday parties.

#1: Silver sandals (need mending), silver glittery clutch, pearls as bracelet, shiny drop earrings, white silky shawl.

#2: Statement necklace (my only one), silver ring with stone, black shrug/bolero, black dressy boots, glittery clutch

#3: Black shrug/bolero, dotty tights and black suede pumps, to strands of pearls worn together, golden watch. No bag, because I don't own any that is suitable.

What do you think - which one is the best alternative? If I should improve on this, what should I be looking for? I'm thinking that a clutch of some kind would be a good investment, and maybe a new statement necklace or a bracelet. But It is so hard to find anything affordable that also looks good! If you have suggestions (with photos), I'll be thrilled.

The dress is beautiful and looks great on you. I like outfit no.1 for its sheer sophistication and no.3 for the pretty tights and red paired with black. I think the clutch in photo no.1 would also work with outfit no.3.

Well I was drawn to number 2 because it is very close to an outfit I often wear!! But I loved no 1 too. For some reason I couldn't put my finger on, I was less keen on the dress with the dotty tights

Ingunn - that dress is beautiful on you and fits you so well! I like all three ways you have styled it. I'm sorry but I don't have any other suggestions for shrugs or statement necklaces (but you could get really funky with added brights like fuschia or purple). If I think of anything else over today (it's 6:30 am here now), I'll be sure to chime in again!

Glad you got the red one! I really like all the styles, if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be #2. It's really a great, versatile dress!

Stunning dress - #2 just knocks my socks off, but they are all lovely. Maybe you could add more pearls to #3 for more impact. I'm so glad you got this dress!

The dress is gorgeous on you, Ingunn! So glad you got it.

Of the stylings you've presented, I prefer #2. The black shrug and boots balance each other visually. But of course you probably wouldn't want to wear boots to a very dressy event. So in that case, I would go with #3.

If you're going to go with black dotted tights and dark footwear, and you don't think you want to wear the shrug all the time, you might consider a black or dark statement necklace of some kind? Something to balance the darkness on the bottom.

#3 is my favorite sans the sweater but I understand a girl has to stay warm. I love the echo of the pearls in the dots on your hosiery. Lovely dress. I think your hair looks especially good with it, I am also a sucker for red curly hair too You look beautiful and so very ladylike yet modern.

The dress looks STUNNING on you Ingunn and I adore all three stylings. For this particular occasion, I think I prefer #3 and agree with Suz's comment about wearing a darker necklace to balance the footwear.

Lots of different opinions on which is the best which I think means they are all pretty great My personal favourite for an evening party is #1. #2 looks a little more office-like, great if you want to get more wear out of the dress or for a daytime party - although as a Canadian I can appreciate that sometimes tall boots are more pratical for evenings out as well! #3 has a bit of a retro vibe to me, which is also great

#3 seems to have taken the lead here, but it needs a bit more tweaking before I'm satisfied. All your suggestions will be explored: A black/dark statement piece for my neck or arm and/or more pearls, and my red coat will definitely be my outerwear to the party (thanks for pointing that out, Angie). I'm also looking for a nice black clutch, that could be enough to pick up the black when the cardi is off, don't you think?
